Checked the XR box for the lackluster suspension. Really though, the rest of the package is pretty good and would not have a Jeep without the Extreme package.

Love my Willys XR. The only thing I want to do suspension wise is get stiffer shocks.Checked the XR box for the lackluster suspension. Really though, the rest of the package is pretty good and would not have a Jeep without the Extreme package.
Add cheese-its to the equation. That's also a lesson you don't forget...

To your point - and not to hijack the Everclear trajectory, but my favorite mod (of many) would be the Combat Offroad turn buckle hood latches, black out edition. I just had to have them from the moment I saw them. Completely aesthetic and no pretense of practicality. In fact they're a little more awkward for someone like me who's always popping the hood, but it doesn't matter. I just love 'em and that's enough. So I'm agreeing with you completely and have no shame about it. If someone wants practicality get a Prius. There's a reason, and he'll be the first to admit it, that Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary (a.k.a. Mr. Wonderful) has a portfolio of wedding and special event related business under his "Something Wonderful" Platform.
The reason is that emotion is the enemy of rational decisions: a fact that he tries to respect each time he offers venture capital for a business, trying to focus on the numbers rather than the more esoteric aspects of a business. And it's this very fact about emotion that he leverages in getting couples about to get married, and their families, to throw caution in the wind and spend that extra amount.
This said, many aspects of Wrangler ownership, from purchase to accessories are highly emotional decisions. Accordingly we should expect that a fair number of purchases lose their luster not long after that "I have to have it" motivation and purchase is made.
Of course, emotional or not, many Wrangler decisions are ones we enjoy for nearly the life of ownership.
I learned this quick the first trip we went on. It was the wife's Jeep and initially she just wanted a Jeep. I convinced her we needed to do Jeep things. Had a blast other than fighting over the driver's seat. The same thing happened in Colorado and now we have 2 Jeeps. That will be my advice for all people here: If the significant other has any want to drive off road at all go ahead and buy 2 Jeeps.Serious reply, we're in Moab this week with the other half's newly built Sport. I sold my Jeep back in June and figured I was done with Jeeps for a while. Seriously, my last Jeep really pissed me off, and I felt really burned by Stellantis. We only do wheeling adventures 1-2 times per year, let him have the fun, I'll drive it occasionally when I need my fix. Right?
And... I'm a pouty little boy on this trip. After 15 years of doing all the driving on trails, I really do hate being a passenger, and I'm trying my hardest to not dispense any driving advice. Plain and simple, we need two Jeeps.
