I had the opportunity through a rare situation where @ParadigmDawg started to go sideways, to test out my winch on my new aluminum bumper. It handled really well.

It was actually my first time using the winch ever. Really happy I got to use it to help a friend out!!

About halfway through the video, you'll start to see that I stopped asking as many questions. Took me a minute to kind of get a feel for what I was supposed to be doing. By the time his front passenger wheel hit that rock and he started turning passenger, I kind of knew what I was doing at that point.

It was really cool day overall, I learned a lot. That crew that we rolled with was super experienced and a great team to learn from!!

Hopefully I get a chance to wheel with them in the future!! 💙

Ha, I jinxed myself yesterday. You had asked me about a couple of drops and if I would ever do them and knowing that none of my normal crew was out there, I came up with a quick response of "sure I would if my guys were out here". I don't think it was even 1 minute until we rounded a corner and there were 2 of them. I was like "oh crap...here we go".

You did really good and were on some trails that were beyond your lift. We just have to teach you to slow down a little more in some situations. All in all, I was impressed.

Oh...and I am pretty sure that I made it clear, that I would not be the first person dangling off some rocks and trusting your homemade bumper...lol... I am very glad it worked.

The tires I'm going to purchase next march, I'm kicking around the idea of getting 37s. It's only $200 more to get 5/37s of this brand, then it is to get 5/35s. 🤔

I did some measurements 2 days ago, looks like the only place I'm going to rub is on the top of the front fenders when I flex. I'm going to be installing 1.25 in body pucks sometime either this month or next month. So I think that would help a little bit... I don't know, what are you guys think?
What made you choose Sailun?

That's a long explanation I know, I guess I'll see after I put on the spacers how much extra clearance I get. I mean worst case scenario I rub a little bit in the major flex areas on the fender flare.
Spacers are usually used as a last resort.

What suspension are you running?

Now if I invest in a foot peg made for the Jeep Wrangler, I might shave off a whole other minute.

On the matter of foot pegs, there've been a few posts -- just enough to notice -- that've mentioned bent hinges after recurring use of the pegs.

Just something to keep in mind, depending on how frequently you intend to use them.

Sadly the only way to cure gingerism is the same way to cure AIDs...

To anyone whom has my number and I text often, I'm running a flip phone this week (because I'm me)
You're @Tredsdert, so there's got to be some unexpected backstory here. Fess up!

I'm getting my tin foil hat ready for this response!
Fortunately he's unlikely to fall for conspiracy theories. There are plenty of people here, however, that are highly susceptible to them.

Nothing really that complicated. Basically I didn't get my first smartphone until 2015, and I did just fine without it up until that point.

I just remember when I didn't have care in the world, and the flip phone aided me in not having to deal with people's nonsense.

The biggest issue at this point is I tend to be a social butterfly, and I have social media, so it's hard to text people, which I do so much with a flip phone. It's tedious to say the least.

The only thing I actually miss from the smartphone, is the music on demand, and the convenience of it.

It's like I was telling my wife yesterday, anybody who you're texting or any social media you're looking at, it's all entertainment, if it was so important, you should be able to call someone. If you can't call someone about it, and you can wait on a response, it's probably not important enough to even bother texting to begin with.

At this point going to a flip phone is only a temporary thing because at the end of the day there's people on here and other friends I have who I communicate with too much to be running a flip phone. As much as I would like to run a flip phone for the rest of ever, my life has grown to be too full of friends and family who am I communicate with to ever go backwards.

Realistically to go back to a flip phone at this point I would need to ghost everyone on here and most of my friends. The few who I actually talk to on the phone, I could probably stay in touch with them, delete all my social media and my account on this website, and then at that point I would probably be pretty comfortable running a flip phone as long as I had one of those Garmin side by side devices for maps, and instead of on-demand music from my smartphone, I'd just listen to the radio or the sound of silence.

Having a flip phone also runs into other issues, like when I go to pick up my granddaughter from her daycare, they use a smartphone app with a QR code to sign her in and out, without my smartphone, I can't sign her in and out. Mind you I could ask the staff to do it for me, but I can't imagine they'd be down for that for very long before they start asking me to send someone else to pick her up.

Really comes down to one simple thing:

UNPLUGGING!

I truly do enjoy the simpler things in life. Keep it mechanical, keep it simple, keep it basic.

Hopefully in a couple years, my life gets to the point where I don't need to run a smartphone at all times. Don't know when I'm going to get there, but it is a life goal.
Hopefully you'll make it to Colorado / Utah soon. Many of the places we wheel and camp completely lack cell service. I'm guessing that'd be "a good thing" to you.

It wasn't until the end where the "holy shit" amount of free play in your steering wheel was obvious! And if only you could figure out where that body roll was coming from ;).

Man, I'd love to have the acceleration you seem to have. Mine's so damn heavy...and stock.
