I had a similar conversation with AccuTune before/when I ordered my 2.5s. The long story shortened is with a properly setup 2.5 with ~5" of up travel, you'll hardly ever bottom out, negating the need for Air Bumps.

I can verify that with around 20k miles on mine now, and some pretty hard hits, this is pretty accurate. Even on the hits that are hard enough to bottom out, its not very harsh when it does bottom out.

As far as yours being the wrong length, have you considered adding some metalcloak shock extension brackets or similar? I would assume you have around 10" of travel out of your current shocks, and if you could put some relocation brackets on to optimize the range of the travel you currently have, you would probably be fine without having to replace them.

With the right combination of brackets, you could probably get them close enough.

I’ll have to see how the 2.5s behave with the new springs. I’m fundamentally unhappy with them at the moment.

Curious tho. Which brackets are required to keep longer 2.5s off the frame?

I am just running the same Evo outboard brackets that @Roky is running.

If your shocks are too short currently, using the MetalCloak outboard brackets will work just as well and also raise the lower shock mount 1.5", effectively giving you 1.5" less up travel, and 1.5" more droop. If you already have enough bump stop added that you have over 1.5" of shock shaft showing at full compression, you wont loose any up travel, but would gain 1.5" of overall travel with 1.5" more droop. Just always make sure you bottom out on bump stop before bottoming out the shock.

I was looking at these today. They require back spacing of 4.5” or less. I’m at 5” with the stock XR wheels. Ugh. I wanted them to work!

I am running the same wheels, mine are just the Mopar version from before they put them on the XR and I don’t have any clearance issues.

I have since added 1.25” spacers to them now but that was just because I wanted it to sit a little wider for stability, not because I had to. The spacers I am running were like $105 for the full set on Amazon and are hubcentric. I didn’t want any of the commonly known brands because they are all 1.75-2”, and I needed it to still fit on my trailer that’s 82” wide. The 1.25” spacers put me at 81.5” so it still barely fits. Has to be aired up to street pressure to fit lol. No need to cut the studs for the 1.25” spacers either btw, the XR wheels have a pocket between each stud that allows for the stud to poke out of the spacer without any issue.

Anyways, you’d be fine either way. If you want a little more width anyways you could always just throw on the same spacers I have.

Edit to add a link to the spacers I have. Amazon says they don’t fit a wrangler but they do lol with some wheels you might would have to cut the studs I assume is why but no need to with the XR wheels.

Update:

Installed Synergy 3” springs, antirocks, metalcloak front shock outboard brackets, and Evo rear 2” shock extensions. Much happier. Getting new wheels with more backspacing to clear the rear Antirock link… trying out some method beadgrips. And better tires. Should have the new rims on next week and finally ready to rock the rocks again.
