"Software issue"? Possible but least likely. Very least. If software points to a fault, you don't ignore it.
I'm sorry....did we just conveniently forget about this fiasco?

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a...d a recall,remedied through a software update.

Or this one?

https://www.cars.com/research/jeep-wrangler-2021/recalls/

What about this?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cn...tware-recall-grand-cherokee-l-grand-wagoneer/

Least likely? 5 of the 7 total recalls in the last year have been software related...who knows how long the problems were reported before being properly diagnosed and fixed.

I’ve been getting the same message only during deceleration and or hard braking during highway driving. It got so bad the other during a 10 mile drive that I dropped the Jeep off at the dealership, 2 days later and still no resolution or path forward but definitely agree it is a bug somewhere in the code.
That seems to be the only time mine happens as well

Just out of curiosity, do any of you have OBDII scanners you can plug in and watch live data to see if you can see anything when this happens? Some errors won't get recorded in some computers. In my F-150, for example, if there is a single misfire, and the problem goes away, the code scanner won't read the problem later. But when running live data, when the misfire happened another time, it showed the cylinder that misfired. Took me three days of driving around with the OBDII scanner plugged in to see the error.

If you’re willing to help me with this process, I’d buy one and try it. They don’t seem too expensive. I just plug this thing in and when the message pops up I look at the device?

so they come in different flavors, that looks like it may just read hard faults recorded in the computer, which may or may not show you an error code if you catch it.

You can get others that support ABS codes, SRS codes, etc.

I use an older model Innova 3040c
https://obdstation.com/innova-3040c-review/

With that I can watch the live data: battery charge, fuel rate, o2 readings, etc.

It's been a couple years since my misfire, so I don't recall if I saw an error on live data, or was able to catch a dtc before it was automatically cleared. If it was a dtc that one may just work.

I'm not sure you can find this device any more, it's been replaced by newer models, and each model is going to perform slightly differently. I believe this model was somewhere around $150. But if you're going to be doing work on '96+ vehicles, they are invaluable tools. If not, they're a pretty expensive paperweight.

I would be particular about what plugs into my OBD2 port: out-of-spec equipment can damage the PCM.

The Innovas are nice; BlueDriver is also nice and portable and also logs sensor data.

Thinking about this, I think it only seems to happen to me under deceleration. Anyone else seen it happen under acceleration?
For the two Instances this Message appeared for me, it was always deceleration at an Exit Ramp off a Highway. First time was last month, days after filling up with "generic" Gas from a local Station (a place called B+H). Second time was tonight, heading Home from the Ballet Studio. But I was already below a quarter tank. So I assumed that the remaining gas was somewhat watered down or some residual crap might be left over. Or possibly some air pockets in the Fuel Lines at that particular time. But after filling up with Shell VPower, she ran like a Champ as usual (knocking on wood).

This message started popping up on my 2.0 Sahara today. Every time it came up I was braking to a stop or just coasting to a stop on the highway. Haven’t noticed any actual performance issues just the quick message and gone which is making me think it’s just some kind of software thing since it’s really only happening with 22s. My friends 21s don’t have any issues and we all use the same octane (87) from the same two gas stations around here

Does anyone with this error code notice that their gas mileage is severely diminished? I'm getting 17-18 combined vs the 22 it's supposed to get. I know winter, driving conditions, etc contribute...but a full 25% decrease?

For direct comparison, I drove a '21 2.0L JLU Sport for a month...consistently getting 22-24 mpg. Nothing is different really between model years...so I'd expect to be getting similar mileage.

I'm honestly starting to think this is a mixing issue. Injectors, O2 sensor, computer that monitors it...something like that.

Based on what my Jeep tells me, I'm getting 20 - 21 for the past few tanks. I've got a Rubicon with bigger wheels and lower gearing so I would expect my fuel economy to be about right where it is. Nothing out of the ordinary I'm finding.

I am making some lobster ravioli for dinner tonight though... for whatever that is worth. About to head to the store because I forgot REAL parm and heavy cream for my sauce!

This is pretty obviously a software problem. Only affecting the newest year model, specific sequence of events produces it, and no noted driveability faults.

Sounds exactly like what I get on my bone stock ‘22 JLUR: 20-21mpg. The 33in Tires and 4.10 Gears speak for this.

On another note, invite me for Dinner next time you cook… ?

I struggle to get 22Mpg on a 2022 JLR while the 2020 JLU (with the exact same engine and Rubi tires) easily does 27 on premium gas.
