Wd40 did “not” work but I do believe you found the cause of the problem with the part that is in your pictureI was able to fix this problem on my 2018 JLUR by doing the following, you are welcome to try at your own risk.
To troubleshoot the issue, I removed the back panel from the seat and had someone rock the seat side to side until I located the noise/vibration with my hand.
Note: you may not need to remove the back of the seat to fix the problem, but I did.
- Remove the back of the passenger seat.
- Un-do the two black elastic bands from the bottom of the seat, they will be attached to two white hooks.
- Flip-up the flap you just unhooked, and take note the two screws on either side.
- Remove the two screws.
- Starting at the bottom with you hands placed on either side of the panel, tug gently towards you working your way up the back of the seat. The seat back should pop off with gentle force.
- Locate the problem area as indicated in my pictures.
- position some paper towels or a rag around the work area to catch the excess WD-40
- Apply a light amount WD-40 to the spot where the flat plate meets the cylinder.
- Have someone rock the seat while you are applying the WD-40, so that it works itself into the joint.
- You should hear the sound go away some rocking.
- Re-install the back of the seat, if you removed it.
