Anyone else having problems with Jeep Dealer not getting replacement parts for months. I know the world has gone crazy with supply chain issues but it think it's more than that.

My JLU Sport S had had the rear axle fail before and it was rebuilt maybe 9 months ago and now it's going out again and they can't get the ring and pinion to rebuild it.

I read on here it's a common problem but if the parts are defective it's just going to fail again.

Any advise before my axle freezes up and causes a crash. Apparently I can get them to give me a loaner once that happens.

Contact @JeepCares and see what they can do for you. As for the replacement part issue, unfortunately that's a nationwide issue with Jeep and many other manufacturers.

Its not just a CJDR problem, and they actually are better than some. Im a parts manager for a body shop and for us Kia are probably the worst right now, followed by weirdly Honda. Overall in general the most common stuff is back to almost normal but anything fringe that would have been special order in the before times will still be as hard or much harder now.

Wow crazy times.

I do agree it's not just them, but I think your right about most common parts and this is a defective part so they need them to build new jeeps and fix all the failed ones.

I just hope it doesn't cause a crash when it fails.

Yea it sucks that its happening for sure, and hopefully the dealer at least offers a rental for the time you are down.

A quick story of what we are dealing with in the collision industry. There was a '22 Civic we had that we brought in early November pretty easy fender/bumper/hood but some of the air bags went off, which normally isn't an issue. Well we had everything except the airbag, drivers seat belt and module by mid/late November. Tech gets the body repair stuff done and we wait for the airbag stuff; diag unit shows by end of December and Drivers seat belt not until mid January. Customer is understandably upset but unfortunately not at all understanding, so we are all pretty frustrated in the situation.

So we have a 3rd party that installs these things for us and programs the modules and they get it all done. However during the programming it comes out that the rear belts have a bad circuit in them, now 3 months after we get the car. Unfortunately there really wasnt anything we could do as the module take a crap when the airbags go off so any codes it would have shown arent reliable and guess what Belts are back order no eta.

It took until almost Valentines day to get everything in and car back to the customer. All due to just not being able to get VERY important parts that we cant just leave out/off. It sucks and us parts guys 100% sympathize with yall for sure.

Yep, My dealer had mine for 3 months for a pinion gear set. Stay on top of them but immediately contact Jeep and bug them, I ended up requesting aftermarket parts, I even found a OEM set online that they would not warranty. Their fix was to replace the entire rear end.

Ya I've heard that many times, that would realy suck for them. At least I can still drive mine, but no loaner until it fails.

I'm glad I have rental car coverage on my main cars so at least I'd have a car to drive if it gets in a accident.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. I'd never get mad at my advisor as its not there fault but I'm sure they get lots of grief.

I have been bugging them weekly as they give me an eta and it keeps changing.

I have asked for a entire rear end but they won't do it until they tear it apart to verify what failed. Not sure if they can get that either.

My guess is if it fails they will need more parts, he'll that could take out the transfer or trans if it seized.

Thanks

Tangential:
Courtesy of the Takata airbag recall, which occurred well before the pandemic, we had four airbags replaced in two Hondas. That required four separate service appointments over the course of 1+ year, IIRC. Said differently, the defective modules were replaced as each one became available.

Due to the timing, I was able to piggyback the annual inspections for each vehicle as the window stickers came due. So, on net, the recall only required two add'l. visits to the dealer. A minor inconvenience, as both vehicles remained operable.

best of luck, I know it's frustrating. just stay on them. the parts eta auto renews when time comes and they aren't available. I had a new 2 week part eta about every 12 days. for 3 months.

From what I've been seeing in the news, you can get an immediate whole car's worth of Hyundai/Kia parts from just about any truant middle/high schooler now for the cost of a USB stick.?‍♂
