I decided to have my 26 Moab professionally ceramic coated. The detailer I went to uses Adams products (Graphene) and even though Jeep was new, it needed some paint correction. Probably swirled by the automatic dealer car wash. Very happy with the result and worth the cost in my opinion.

Would you mind sharing where you went? Looking for someone good, and willing drive a little.

I’m not sure I’m quite ready to do all the prep work for a full, more permanent ceramic coating, so right now since my paint is pretty new with only 5k miles on the Jeep, I think I’m going to get my feet wet with the Adam’s ceramic spray. Does anyone know if it’s safe on the black hardtop aswell? And by safe I mean, it doesn’t leave weird residue or look odd after. Also will the coating look pretty good if I just use their surface prep cleaner after a wash and nothing else. My paint is smooth so I don’t believe I should clay bar. I also heard that after clay it’s recommended to polish because it could leave the clearcoat dull. Thanks for all the responses. Sorry for all of the questions!

Invest 20$ for a clay bar and lubrifiant kit. While at it do a strip wash and indeed the surface prep cleaner before. Better get some absorbing towels that you can throw away.
I would not do the mat black top.
While you're there get the booster, you will need it.
If you want, actually you can polish by hand the hood and fender this will provide the must returns on investment.
I usually do this over couples of day take my time and relax.

Too much money and time, just wash and wax occasionally like any other car....er Jeep! LOL

Or have children and let them do the washing and waxing, kinda like when I wanted to borrow the folks car back when lol.
I think it's cheaper to have a vasectomy and have a Beverly Hills shop wash and wax it weekly.

I had PPF put on my tire flares, grill and hood. Then they ceramic coated the whole thing in Xpel. This is it after but before they put the decals back on. I'd do the PPF again (in the market since my son totaled the one pictured), but I don't know about the coating. My husband also has coating paint protection on his audi and it has chips all over.

I do like a clean vehicle...........

Full PPF is the ultimate way to go but expensive, several thousand dollars expensive.

I have a Black JLUR. I use Obsessed Garage Drying Aid. It's very similar to Bead Maker by P&S. Which was the first spray on protected I started with and then soon found the OG spray, without the color. The OG spray applies better than BM and last longer it also doesn't do the haze that BM will do. Both do an amazing job at beading water off the vehicle. I have used the OG Drying Aid for 5 years now, since new, and paint looks brand new. I never did any paint prep. I have always hand washed. The other spray on "ceramic" that rate really well and last a good 6 months is Turtle Wax Ceramic spray coating. I use it on my daughter's car that sits outside 24/7 and it'll last the 6 months. The OG Detail spray will last 6 months also. Bead Maker will last a few months. I like the OG product the best.

Main thing is prep. As others have stated you need to wash and clay. You really don't need to do paint correction unless you are doing a true ceramic coating. Once you do a true ceramic coating you have sealed in any imperfection in the paint. So, paint prep before is a must. But I also suggest doing a decon-wash and iron remover before clay. Use a clay sponge much easier to use and you can reuse it several times. The main thing is if you drop the clay sponge you just rinse it off and keep using. Drop a clay bar and you throw it away, it will pick up and hold any grit off the ground. Since you have new paint use a "fine" clay sponge, it is less likely do any scratching. Definitely use a lubricant for claying to again reduce any micro scratches.

Here is my goto cleaning process. Wash or decon wash, iron remover, clay sponge, wash or decon wash, apply paint sealant, apply wax then use a topper, the OG Detail spray. Then from then on just wash as normal and use the OG Drying Aid while drying it. It will keep the paint very slick, and it will make the routine washing easier. Will also not let bugs and other road grim stick or at least make it much easier to wash those items off. Then pending your usage and how often you wash do the whole decon, clay, iron, sealant, wax process like once a year.

Also quality towels for each step.

Can any of these products be applied over frigin bubbling corrosion and slow down the process or has anyone tried to sand, repair, repaint etc. or is it a lost cause?

I paid $800 for partial PPF 2 1/2 years ago. Was guaranteed not to yellow for 8 years in the warranty.

no. the corrosion starts with the metal, causing the paint to bubble..... only way to fix is strip and repaint.
