Jeep won't accelerate and sputters. If you keep it under ~15% throttle it will accelerate fine (obviously slowly). It also cranks longer than it should. It started doing it last week. Then all symptoms went away for a couple days. Now they are back. I can't find anything wrong with the fuel delivery system visually. I'm thinking either plugged fuel filter or bad gas? Unfortunately I had just filled it last Sunday so it's still over half a tank. I don't see a fuel filter available anywhere, is it in the tank and therefore considered non-serviceable? Any ideas?

What engine do you have Zach?
2.0t just under 45k miles so powertrain is still under warranty. I try to avoid the dealer whenever possible so I was attempting to troubleshoot it myself. No fuel leaks I could find, wiring looks good, the way it came and went before it came back 2 days later makes me think fuel filter but who knows. I have Thursday off so I may try to make an appointment at the dealer.

Following out of interest.

Hopefully it's something simple such as a sensor on the fritz, etc.

I wish you the best Zach. I bet it is something simple. I don't blame you not wanting to go to dealer. OTOH, you are doing it right by getting it done under warranty.

Old thread but did this ever get resolved?

Anyone else experience this same thing? My 2021 2.0t with 18,000 miles is having the same symptoms lately, off and on.

No check engine lights on the dash.

Won’t accelerate over 3k RPMS, (takes forever to even get to the 3k RPM mark, only gets there if you hold it to the floor) and loses power very quickly on any uphill/grade, feels like the turbo isn’t spooling. It’s basically going into limp mode without triggering a check engine light. If I turn it off and back on it immediately goes back to normal. Restarts just fine, no extended cranking or anything like that.

Has happened 3-4 times over the last 6 weeks. Nothing in particular that triggers it. Has happened while driving slow through town at 35mph, driving 70 down the Hwy and taking off from a dead stop at a red light, no rhyme or reason.

It just happened about 10 minutes ago as I was pulling back into my house, previously I was no where near home when it happened, so this time I kept it running and put my scanner on it and even though there is no check engine light I’m getting a P0087 code which is “Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low.”

Obviously gives me a place to start, and it’s headed to the dealer on Monday, just wondering if anyone has fixed this same issue already, might be able to avoid replacing unnecessary parts of the fuel system if so.

I know it's been quite a while, but did you ever get a resolution to this issue? Mine just started yesterday on two separate drives doing the same thing.

Also if so, did the dealership cover it under warranty? I know it comes up as a powertrain fault code which I would hope would be covered.

Yes it did get resolved, under warranty.

Initially they replaced the fuel pressure sensor for the high pressure fuel pump that is on the back of the engine, they claimed it had a bad seal and was leaking causing a loss in fuel pressure… problem continued.

They then replaced that high pressure fuel pump on the back of the engine, saying they thought it was getting a “bad electronic signal” causing it to drop pressure sporadically… problem continued.

Finally they replaced the fuel pump inside the tank and we have had no issues since, knock on wood, but it appears to have solved the issue.

That's great! It gives me a good starting point when I'm talking to the dealership tomorrow. Thank you so much for your quick reply!
