Just curious, wrangler 19 plate , overland , when I start it the screen says “Sahara” why does it say that?

Because it really is a Sahara. But FCA couldn't use that name because of copyright issues over seas

A little bit of history: Jeep’s parent company was Willys-Overland. It was incorporated in the 1910s.

This is why Jeep has been using “Overland” as one of its posh trim levels for a number of years, way before “overlanding” was even a thing.

“Sahara” appeared as the posh trim on Wrangler YJ in the late 1980s, and since then it has represented Wrangler’s comfort, luxury-focused version.

Needless to say, the level of comfort and luxury has been elevated across the entire Wrangler lineup.

but I’m a bit puzzled about that as we have Sahara models in the uk ,they are of a cheaper spec ,cloth seats etc .

That's because the Overland is just a fully loaded Sahara.
