I'm going to second a failed temp sensor here. If you were at 258 your heads would be toast. The coolant would be boiling up like a SOB as well. It would be blatantly obvious.

Just keep an eye on it. If it happens again take it in, and be sure to monitor the coolant level just incase.
I had no boil over or unusual noises like rumbling and the such. Wouldn’t a failed sensor trigger a code?

212 degrees seems quite cool for the new Jeeps. I would expect it to hit 226 and then cool down to under 200 degrees.

No, as a faulty sensor will only throw a code if it goes open or shorts to ground. If it's still operating within expected thresholds (258f is a possible temp) it wouldn't throw a code.

Any idea where this sensor is and what it is called?

Well been a little over a week now and this overheat condition has not returned. Was really hot the other day got up to 227 for a bit then cooled down to 202 back and forth like that for awhile.
I am thinking just a glitch, hopefully it will not return, but keeping my JScan in the Jeep to turn the fan on high if needed.

258 is a perfectly recoverable overheat condition. With our coolant systems being pressurized up to 21 psi, they can reach well above that. Unless you had a loss of pressure condition, you would not notice boiling/surging at that temp. I have seen it many times from stuck thermostats.

With coolant still present and circulating in the engine, the likelihood of damage is much lower than in a loss of coolant condition.

Just in case anybody sees this while Doing research on a similar issue.

I have not had any overheat events highest it has gotten since is 224, which quickly gets cooled down by the fan. What happened I have no idea a sensor glitch, computer glitch a stuck thermostat…..

I think that you lucked out! It is true that you still had boil over protection, but 258° is still a very hot coolant temp.:whew:

Yeah it is just so odd that it has been normal this entire time, driving in much hotter temps. I almost wonder if a sensor flipped out…

The main thing is that it seems to be O.K. now. You are also keeping an eye on it, which is good. Fortunately, there is a lot of added protection built into the cooling system as of today, with the 50/50 mix of coolant and high-pressure radiator cap. This will save many engines from destruction. Good Luck with it!

2023 High Tide
My 2023 High Tide, with the Xtreme Recon and 3.6l and 4dr of course, would get up to 230 then would come back down to under 220 when the fan cranked up. Mostly got this hot when running 75mph or more on the interstate. Driving around town or at idle it would run between 200-210 at most, usually under 200.

I replaced the stock 2023 grill with an aftermarket 2024 grille. So far, the Jeep has not went above 210 and that was going uphill a ways at about 73mph at 94 outside temp. Generally it runs just over 200 at around 202-206 on the interstate at speed. Around town or 45-55 mph it’s below 200 and sometimes below 190.

The latest design grille flows significantly more air and vastly uncovers more of the radiator/condenser/cooler. I would recommend replacing the 2018-2023 grille with the 2024 one over the strip and splice fan controller.
