So, despite the fact that I am infuriated with Jeep's order guide that makes zero sense...I ordered a new JLRX today! Wanted a 3.6 w/8 speed auto but you cannot order a 2-door with the 3.6 and 35" tire package so ordered a Bright White 2-door Ruby X with 2.0. However I could not order the factory Warn winch with the 2.0 in a 2-door X but you can order a 4-door X with 2.0 and winch...Yup, makes no sense! Another change in the order guide in the past week is you now have to order the Trailer Tow package to get the hitch, high output alternator and Aux Switch package as it's no longer standard on the X, a bargain at $95 but why?

I will keep an eye out for more changes in the order guide and if ordering a factory winch opens up before scheduling the dealer will try and add it to my order.

PS: I did go down to the Ford dealer and drove a 2-door Bronco and while it was a nice 'car' (IFS) it just wasn't a Jeep!

The winch is an easy add after you take delivery, the complete parts list from the 35" package is less so. Interesting point about the tow package being deleted from the X package, that's going to trip a lot of people up if they're not careful.

Yes, the winch is an easy add-only thing is if you order factory winch the front spring rates are different and possibly the front shocks are calibrated differently.

However, I do like the Warn bumpers and Zeon 10-S on my '20 Ruby...

Here’s how the conversation went in the meeting at FCA HQ regarding this:

Sales VP: Dealers are reporting that customers are complaining that the 2-Door gets no love. What can be done to spice it up and increase floor traffic?

Marketing: One thing we’d like to do is to offer the 35” tire package on the 2-Door. Manufacturing has most of the parts already, just need to spec some new springs.

Engineering: Cool, for all engine and option packages?

CAFE Compliance Officer: No, only for the four cylinder, increased orders and popularity will blow out our CAFE numbers.

Engineering: OK, four cylinder only, got it. We’re still going to have to test and qualify springs for the winch equipped 2-Doors as the weight there…

Bean Counters: Nope, too much money. Just qualify one set of springs for the 35”package and restrict heavy options on that.

Marketing: Sigh.

Engineering: (muttering quietly) F-ing bean counters…

Bean Counters: Hey, I heard that. You know, this company wouldn’t be pulling down the big margins on these vehicles if it wasn’t for us constantly looking for ways to cut costs. You need to get onboard…

Marketing: Enough, we’ve all heard this 87 times before. JeepCares, what have you learned from customer social media research on those… enthusiast forums. Ugh.

JeepCares: The usual stuff, everyone wants Hemis for nothin’ and their Jeeps for free. Oh, one comment keeps coming up - customers say they’re sick and tired of the lackluster sales and service experience that they’re getting from the dealerships.

Sales VP: (roaring in laughter) We’re going to give them a 2-Door with the 35” tire package, what more do these ungrateful bastards want? I bet they're still complaining about not having one touch up on the power windows! Geez, they need to just shut up and give us their money…

Isn't the XR package coming soon for the 2dr Willys and Rubis? I figured it would require the 8spd auto since it does so for the 4drs

Yes, but they now call it the 35" tire package so that nobody confuses XR with the X package on Rubicons.

As screwy as Jeeps ordering system is its miles ahead of Chevrolet’s. I have a 2024 Colorado trail boss on order. (No, I’m not trading my JLURD) I started trying to order it before Christmas. The dealer kept delaying me. Finally after New Years I took them money and said to order it. i heard nothing for weeks and went back to the dealer. They looked it up and said it’s supposed to be built this week (2/19). Now today there is a stop sale on 2024 colorados. No 24s are even delivered to customers. Ordering my Jeep was so much easier.

Yes, but still only the 2.0 with auto. Also, just for the hell of it we priced out a standard 2-door Rubicon with 35" tire package, hardtop, most options and it was MORE than a 2-door 2.0 auto Ruby X!
I did say the order guide made no sense...AND no power seats, laminated side glass, leather interior, additional sound insulation, no painted hardtop and probably a couple other things I don't remember.

Progress...Now showing scheduled! She might come a bit sooner than expected. Now to get my '20 3.6 JLR ready for sale or trade and go through storage and dig out a host of new-in-box goodies that I never got around to installing...These will be offered for sale separately once I get them staged and tagged to comply with new forum rules.

Spent the time I had allocated for interior, sound system upgrades and performance enhancements getting the drivetrain and suspension just right-went through multiple suspensions to get that 'just right' ride and drive I wanted and installed every nut, bolt and mod myself. Then got so busy at work I could never carve out additional time...

My advice to you.....forget you ordered it and just wait for the call....Unless you're a glutton for punishment.

It can be 3 weeks ahead of schedule the whole way through and then get held up for months in between the "finished build" stage and "shipped" stage.

Yup, there is no telling on order to delivery timelines...My '20 Ruby took about 7 weeks from order till the call to come get it, yet a buddy who ordered a JLUR a week before I did took almost 5 months!

However it will prompt me to dig out of storage tons of new in box parts to sell! I have a complete (less seats) new OEM leather interior, top of line JL Audio component system with dual amps and left and right JL Audio Stealthboxes, new in box Edelbrock 3.6 Supercharger w/tune, New in box ARB Rockrails and probably a few things I have forgotten about :)
