I recieved a roofrack, and one of the parts (connects 2 rails together) arrived unfinished. It's missing threads.
I got a full refund, so it's basically a free (actually got paid for it as I paid 50%), so would like to correct it myself.

I purchased a thread tapper (made sure it has the same threads as the bolt that's suppose to go into this piece, and disntance between the threading), but unsure of how to actually do it.
Not even sure what the circle object with the 5 holes in it with threading is.
All the videos I've found show different tools, which i do not have.

I'm assuming I'll need some kind of vice to hold it as well, which i don't have.

The "circle object" is a die, for cutting screw/bolt threads. It's unnecessary for your project.

You need a wrench/handle for the tap, likely 1/4".

Oh ok, so don't use a drill/driver? Haha!

You actually can do high-speed, but by hand with a little lubricant and a reverse half turn every revolution to clear chips is a reliable method.
What he said! I use bike chain lube for oil as I don't have thread cutting oil laying around...

Wd40 isn't good for this?
I'm sure it's fine. I don't have wd 40 because people use it on bike chains and it is not an oil it is a water distribution 40th formula solution.
Bike chain lube is typically an oil.

Ah ok, good to know. I already have wd40 so I'll use that.
It's not a deep thread, and I'll be hand tapping so hopefully not a lot of heat.

If you don’t want to bother buying a handle you could just use a crescent wrench, or you could clamp the tap in a vice (whoops, a wrench) and just rotate the bar around the tap. The trick is making sure it enters straight. Slowly cut about half a turn, back off slightly, then cut a bit more. By feel make sure the tap (like a screw) stays in the groves you have already cut (doesn’t cross thread). It will feel better as you go along and the thread cuts get deeper.

If tapping the holes doesn’t work just try a nut and bolt.

Got my T handle and drilled into the bar.
Took a few minutes, used wd40.

The bar is magnetic, so do I spray something on the freshly made threads?

Nice! Put a little grease on your threads and you should be g2g!
