I am new at this so sorry if this is an obvious question

So I purchased a 2023 Sahara to arrive soon. It is in my profile pic.

Sarah comes standard with 255/70/18 tires on 18 inch wheels. (Obviously)

I want to upgrade to these Mopar rims - these are 17 inch 8.5 inch wide wheels.

So comparing tire size it looks like the narrowest fit would be a 285/70/17. My question is will these tires and wheels fit on my jeep without rubbing etc.

Can anyone help me out here? Some pics below for reference.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I guess another question is will this tire fit on my spare tire carrier and will it need to be enforced? Thanks!

If you use this calculator it will overlay your old and new wheels/tire combo and tell you exactly how much larger the new tire is. https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/

Just measure it yourself from the old tire and make sure you have enough room, especially with the front wheels turned as much as they can. You can do the same with the spare.

The spare tire carrier from the factory is designed to hold up to a 50lb tire. Above that you should consider tailgate reinforcement.

Yes, it will fit fine. It's a 33" tire on Mopar wheels. No issues. Maybe very slight rubbing at full flex but you'll have to check. Around town? Zero issues.

The stock tailgate will be fine as well. It's rated up to 85 lbs, not 50lbs like stated above. I ran 106lbs on it for 6-8 months with nonisusesz you'll be fine.

I have these wheels. They fit on the spare tire carrier without any issues. They’ll fit your stock Jeep without any rubbing or spacers required. A 275/70/17 tire will be very close to the same diameter as the stock Sahara wheels, slightly wider.

I know you meant 285/70/17 and not 285/70/18 in your comment above based on your description of your new wheel diameter and the chart you provided but just wanted to point it out before you order R18 tires for 17" wheels.

Yes. It’s about as wide as you’d want to go in 275 tires, 9” might be a bit too wide.
