A/C is standard on the 4 Door JLU Sport, but optional on the 2 door JL Sport.

Sport S gets you...
1. Alloy wheels
2. Power windows
3. Power locks
4. Power/heated side view mirrors
5. Illuminated vanity mirrors
6. Alarm
7. Leather steering wheel
8. Tint

Sport S also allows for additional optional equipment from the factory not available on the Sport, like the dual top option, UConnect upgrade, Safety Group, Cold weather group.

I will most likely also choose a Sport. Manual windows won't bother me, but not having remote power locks sure seems like an inconvenience I'll have to overcome.

Hoping to be in the $33k range with JLU Sport, auto, hardtop, tow, LSD options. That's about a $3k increase over a similarly equipped JKU, except the JKU max tow package includes 3.71 gears. I'm stuck with the 3.45 in the JL.

I thought that not having power locks would drive me crazy as well as I've had power locks since getting rid of my '90 cherokee but you know what... It's not annoying at all. 2 months down the road and I don't have any issues with it all. My dog prefers taking rides in the Grand Cherokee rather than the Wrangler, so not having power windows for him to stick his head out hasn't mattered either.

Wow that center console looks so much... different... than mine lol. Also had no idea you could still get crank windows these days!

Looks like power windows are not an option for a base Sport model. To get power windows you need to move up to the Sport S model which is $3,200.00 more. Yes you get other options for that money but there is no option to just add power windows.
wonder how that effects resale, I imagine it's a deal breaker for most people to not be able to roll down windows from the drivers seat on a 4 door.

Definitely a valid point, especially for families who are hauling kids around. The manual locks would be a huge inconvenience. You have to unlock your driver's door with the key, reach around the back to unlock the rear door so your kid can open the rear door. Then do the same on the passenger side. Great excuse to always use the wife's car and keep lower miles on the Jeep!

It's a Jeep thing. Those that are purchasing a Sport most likely intend to keep the top and doors off or maybe keep it unlocked. So just depends on how you plan to use your Jeep.

Well you are doing it the right way. From various responses it seems many don't understand living on a budget or remember needing to live on a budget. Either they never had to or just don't remember.

If you really want a JL and can option one you can afford do it. The JK I had bought I could have spent more money on and afford it. I just did not want to spend X amount at the time. Now three years later I have equity in that JK. Trading it in this time around I am moving up a model and getting more options while keeping my monthly payment the same. I will probably do that again in the future.

Buy what you can afford comfortably even if you are missing some things you want. Enjoy driving the Jeep while making your payments and trade in / upgrade down the road. With the resale value you will be able to get more next go around.
Totally agreed. Debt in our society, both household and our govt debt, is completely out of control. It won’t end well for either. I put enough down to have immediate equity, and could pay it off if I needed to. I’m always amazed at the houses and cars people have that make half what I make. I couldn’t live like that, but again, I’m a tightwad!

Exactly! I came close to being laid off last fall. My first thought was that I would just sell the Jeep to kill the monthly payment and get cash back into my pocket. Thankfully that did not happen but I will be in the same position this round. If a life changing event were to happen I have built in equity for the Jeep and it won't be an issue.

You know many need to keep up with the Jones' but when something unexpected happens they are screwed.

Resale in value or ability to sell?

Either way, it is all relative on a sliding scale. Resale value is going to be lower because it never had the options to begin with to value it higher.

As to ability to sell, yeah it will take longer but every drivers seat finds a butt to fill it eventually. This point is moot regardless if you dealer trade it in anyway at wholesale cost.

I got the JLU Sport with no power doors/windows. Threw me off the first night I went to grab my bag from the back seat and had to give it a good ol' fashioned reach around to unlock to back door. Everything else is just fine though. I'm in talks with someone over at JeepsAreUs.com who's working on putting together an OEM kit to add power locks. They already had a kit for the JK that has good reviews, so we'll see what they can put together.
