My auto stop/start wasn’t functioning and I read the most common cause of this was a dead auxiliary battery. So I follow the instructions to replace the auxiliary battery but when I get to the place it’s supposed to be, there is no battery there. There aren’t even any cables to connect a battery, so there was never one there. Why don’t I have an auxiliary battery?

Not all jeeps have the auxiliary battery. If start stop is not functioning, you may need to look at replacing the primary car battery.

Mine quit working a couple of months ago. One day I'll get around to eliminating the motorcycle battery. If it cant charge both batteries driving 5-600 kiles a month, I don't want it fixed the way it was, I want it eliminated.

What motor do you have? You might have a 48v battery is you have the BSG
This, likely. If you have the e-torque you don't have the auxiliary battery. You have a 48v battery under your Jeep, toward the back. Something else you don't have if you have the e-torque...an alternator.

Welcome to the forum.

If you have no auxiliary battery under the main battery, then chances are you have an eTorque motor.

So I did see if you get the 8sp auto it requires the 3.6l etorque, but I read those still use the AUX battery (if I am wrong let me know). Only the 2.0L gets the 48v battery from what I have seen.

OK several of you have pointed out that if you have the e-torque motor you don’t have an auxiliary battery. That solves that mystery for me so thank all of you very much. So now my next question, my main battery is brand new and I’m still getting the Auto Stop/Start disabled light. So what are some possible causes for that? Is there another issue that would cause this that an ambitious lay-person like me could address or do I need to take it to the shop?
