PS: Hopefully they will follow Fords lead on the Bronco and Jeep will show as much 'love' to the 2-door as they do the 4-door...
It is easy to show love for a vehicle that doesn't yet exist. The moment Bronco hits the market, the realities of sales pressure will mount on the marketing staff and all those lovie-dovie ads will go out the window.

The first 18 months are going to be Bronco's honeymoon period, as Ford will struggle to meet consumer demand. But once everyone who wanted a Bronco got one, Bronco joins the ranks of every other vehicle that has to fight for buyers' money. And there just aren't many buyers looking for vehicles, cars or trucks, with 2 doors.

Roughly 10% of the market wants a 2-door vehicle. Unfortunately, that 10% gets spread across every vehicle segment --cars, trucks and SUVs.

with a major mid-cycle refresh 5 years into it.
My guess is, since the Uconnect5 is coming out in the Grand Wagoneer and GCL. Jeep will most likely be putting it into the Wrangler as a mid model revamp and regular timeline for a new model.
My guess on the 'mid-life' refresh would be more 'refinements' and a few powertrain options...
The "mid-cycle refresh" was only a JK thing because the early JK and the state of Chrysler at the time was a disaster. Despite the typical fixes and tweaks that commonly evolve throughout the generation of a Wrangler, I don't think we'll see UConnect 5 or any major interior changes to the JL unless the Bronco really ends up eating a huge chunk of its sales.

The first 8.4 UConnect units launched in 2013 and the JK never saw them. In fact, I think the Wrangler was the only vehicle still using the old MyGig radios long after they had been replaced in every other FCA product. Likewise, all the major changes the JK did get weren't exclusive and had already been in the Grand Cherokee long before.

I could be wrong, but I'm willing to bet Stellantis will keep the Wrangler mostly as it is now. Just look at the 392. That's a totally different world for the Wrangler, yet the rest of the vehicle is still largely unchanged.

available 12" touchscreen with 360 camera (love it on my Ram)

height adjustable drivers seat
Even in the comparably roomy interior of a light truck, the 12" touchscreen looks a bit oversized. In the compact interior of a Wrangler, it would really look out of place. This is already true for the aftermarket 10" head unit that's available. How much more so for an iPad equivalent crowding the dashboard (which would then require a material redesign.)

The JLU already has a height-adjustable driver's seat. Your JL doesn't?

4 years after it’s 1987 debut, I would consider 1991 a “refresh” year for YJ, for getting the fuel-injected 4.0 replacing the carbureted 4.2

5 years after TJ’s 1996 debut (‘97 MY), 2001 was a “refresh” year for getting new seats and 2003 completed the update with a new dash and steering wheel. (Not to mention it added the now iconic Rubicon trim level)

TJ used to sell 50,000 units a year; JK 200,000 sold units a year. Wrangler --and Gladtiator-- have become one of FCA/Stellantis's main profit sources, along with Grand Cherokee and Ram. The pressure to keep Wrangler sales at those levels is real, Bronco or no Bronco.

The Wrangler might be one of the most profitable cars on the road. Updarted for not, people keep buying them. I do expect the Bronco to push Jeep to make some changes, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. Diesel, 392, 4xe all in the past 2yrs so my guess is 4-5 yrs before anything real happens

I'm just talking from personal experience. I've owned both the YJ and TJ and we never considered such changes and updates a "refresh." Maybe that's just me.

The "mid-cycle refresh" terminology, though, was always attributed to the interior changes of the 2011 JK, not so much the powertrain replacement. I don't recall updates and replacements to mechanical offerings on the TJ Rubicon, or even the introduction of the LJ, being termed as a "refresh" by Jeepers, but I'm probably just arguing semantics here.

New seats and steering wheels in the TJ was Chrysler getting rid of stuff from the parts bin they stopped using in other vehicles. They did the same thing with the JK.

I don't think the pressure was quite as real for the JK and perhaps that's the difference. The JK, for all its flaws, still managed to kill the Hummer, the FJ, and I suppose the Xterra.

Not a chance. Besides what Aldo mentioned, the next Wrangler will not be much different than the JL all in all. Drive a 2018 JK and a 2018 JL and let me know what you think of the differences between them. Bare in mind of course one was launched in 2006, the other early 2018..
My jk had less tech and drove better and had less problems.. though it was an 11th model year vs a 3rd model year jl..but your point is dead on.. they are overall very similar

Wagoneer looks so nice inside. Wow is all I can think from the promo sent to me from Jeep. Not sure will be successful in today's market but still nice looking.

I haven't had any problems with my JL. It drives a lot better than my last JK; my Sahara came from the factory with more ground clearance than my JK Recon.

But JL's electronics have a mind of their own; don't give much confidence for long-term reliability.

I am getting mine bought back this month and buying a new one.. hoping the new one is better than the the Monday after the factory octoberfest unit I got last time.. my guess as to why it had so many issues since it was built in oct lol

That's the only negative I really see for Jeep with the Bronco. For example, you split up 2-door manual lovers across 2 brands and at some point it doesn't work from a market perspective. Something will have to give.

Indeed. As much as FCA has done to suppress 2-door JL sales, thankfully Jeep has a leg up on Ford.

I see Ford discontinuing the 2-door Bronco after the first redesign.
