How many recalls has it had? Is it "just" two?
I don't even know at this point. It's just wild to me that they had to derate the 3.6 because of the clutch. WILD that the 3.6 is too much for ANY modern clutch.

I’ve owned two MT Miatas. I am confident that either would have done fine with the 3.6.

A bit of a weird thread, but I'll make a comment. Toyota clearly has a quality disaster on it's hand with the 3.4V6 new tundra engine and the Taco transmission among others.

We need to see two things. 1) How they react - so far they seem to be owning up to it and replacing all the affected the engines and transmissions without being intransigent. 2) Are this just one off events or signs that their quality is slipping - that will take a few years to find out.

Meanwhile, for Jeep, we know that they obfuscate and fight against owning up to any serious issue (steering pump on 2018-2020, MT, Paint Corrosion, etc).

Toyota may get a pass. Jeep won't.

LOL. We said essentially the same thing about the USSR when it broke up over there. See how it goes going from 1 to 13 different countries and see if things start slipping.

It seems like their move of sliding the tacoma to their mexico plant is beginning to backfire. Mazda went through something similar back in 2016 when the new mazda 3 debuted. The mexico plants had an insane amount of build quality recalls that the japan ones didn't

A lot of the quality control toyota is known for just kinda falls away here. I feel bad for tacoma owners
