It turns out the wire for the e brake sensing on the radio was hooked up, the radio is a little weird though and you have to set e brake, release and then set again to change any settings on the radio.

The rear camera cannot be connected to the new head unit due to the stock camera being digital signal with a Fakra connector. The alpine manual shows a down converter to make it work, but apparently the part listed in the manual doesn’t exist. Pretty bizarre to be honest that the only way to get the proper converter is to buy directly through China on Ali express……
That's a lot of dicking around when there are so many options out there that can be hard pretty cheap, including a stock 7" or 8.4" unit.

Hello fellow jeepers!

I pulled the trigger on a 2018 JL Sport S yesterday!

I’d been in the market for a rubicon for a bit, can’t justify paying way over sticker new or sticker for a used one at this point in my life.

My first jeep was a 2001 TJ with the 2.5 bone stock, with nothing but a set of TSLs and some youthful ignorance I made memories in that jeep I will always cherish.

When I peeked under this thing at the dealer lot it was spotless, here in CT a few trips in the woods / rocks will leave every surface with the tell tale signs of abuse. No rust not a scratch and I noticed full Clayton kit, dealer had no idea and I haven’t got to research it yet but looks to be at least a 2.5. Looks to be the premium or overland kit. Maybe someone with more knowledge can give me something to measure to tell exactly what kit it is.
The steering also looks really heavy duty, not sure if it’s stock or not.

Came with hardtop and when I picked it up dealer informed me the original owner left the soft top with it as well (bonus!).
Whoever owned this thing before me and ordered it ordered the same way I would, crank windows etc. nothing but the essentials

.
looking forward to connecting with other owners and learning more about these new guys.
Currently also working on a 1954 CJ3B build.

Nice!!!!!!…… measure like in the pic, ( top of axle to bottom lip of upper spring housing ) and tell me what you got, I can tell you 2.5 or 3.5 “ unless you already figured it out…….

I would defintley agree, there is a maestro box and all sorts of stuff they needed to add to make this thing functional. I will say it works fine though minus the camera, and I like apple CarPlay. I probably would not recommend this unit though.

I was able to look up the part number and it appears to be a Clayton 3.5” spring. That makes sense to me because this thing is TALL I’ll have to measure from pavement but it looked 4” taller than stock.

I’ve been doing some small updates to the jeep,

Installed fox ATS steering stabilizer, wired in some more lights to the s-pod switching system, Coates bottom with this DIRTBIKE plastic treatment spray to keep it clean.

Replaced rear tire spare cam and installed a Panasonic camera in the factory location. Installed front camera that looks back at the suspension and front axle.

Installed DV8 box steps which are sturdy, I’m not a huge fan of the look though. Family can climb in now easily though so they will stay until I either modify or find something else I like more.

Had a mild shimmy from 55-60 so I took it to local tire shop and had them check the balance on the tires and the alignment. Whatever small adjustment they made defintley helped.

I tried to run a lower tire pressure but it didn’t seem like it helped anything and with the Toyo at I didn’t see a point.

We have been doing some mild “no winter maitnence roads” up here in CT and haven’t even really found anything that required 4wd yet.

Next goal is to find some 35x12.5s on rims I like, not a huge fan of the stock wheels or the 35x11.5 look I’ve got going on now.

Future plans include axle swap and 37s but I’m not sure I want to waste money on re gearing the 30/35 so I’ll probably just stick with 35s unti the budget gets closer to an axle swap.

Just ordered some vision nemesis 17x9 and some BFG KM3 37x12.5.

This jeep is not my daily driver so I’m fine with the MT I need it to perform on New England slick trails.

Went with the 37 although I know they only measure to about 35”. I didn’t want to add the additional stress on the drivetrain….yet.

Found a set of rubi take off axles brand new with all steering brakes etc attached locally on marketplace. They want 5500 though which I feel is a little steep.

I’ll probably throw all five of my Quadratec wheels and 35x11.5 toyo AT3s up for sale when the new one comes in. Not sure what a fair price would be I’m thinking 1800 obo. The tires have almost no wear.
