Sad Day, Jeep Accident, Advice?

That’s what you would think but surprisingly it doesn’t look that bad. There is no body damage beside passenger side fender, all doors are flush and open and close as normal. Heck, even the sky one-touch tracks perfectly open and close.

Do you remember what they replaced or what they said was wrong with it to cause 28k worth of damage?

Looks repairable. Looks like the tire, wheel and axle components took the brunt of the impact so maybe the frame is still straight. Those bumper ends are flimsy so don't let that draw much attention. Unlikely that the insurance company estimate is accurate. For parts alone maybe, but not labor. The wait for parts may be longer than you are aware of too., so factor that into your decision to keep this Jeep or write it off as a loss and move on to new again.

I say go with new again.

My 2018 JLUR was totaled less than a year after getting it. Got hit on the freeway and sent me into a concrete sound wall at 50 + mph. Two weeks later I got a check from the insurance company for almost what I paid. A week later I had a new 2019 JLUR. Of course they were more available at that time. Glad you’re ok and hope everything works out. Jeeps can be replaced. You can’t.

Welp… week and a half old, 1,000 miles on it. Jeeps and Trailers do not mix well together! Everyone was okay from the accident. Not sure if it’s totaled or not, insurance is currently dealing with it and yes it is my first accident. If it’s totaled I’ll order a new one and If it’s going to be repaired I’ll probably just trade it in and order another new one? Thoughts, comments, concerns?

They will probably offer to repair. Make sure to get a claim in for DIMINISHED VALUE. When you try to resell that jeep it is worth way less when carfax reports the damage

Very sorry and thankful nobody was hurt! Not sure where the OP is from, but diminished value claims is mostly a GA thing in terms of recoverability from my experience.

I read recently that many insurances companies are totaling vehicles right now that, in the past would not have been, due to supply and parts issues. Rental costs are out the roof too, so they may total it.

I had the opposite experience. I wanted my BRZ totaled out and they came back calling it a collector item that had appreciated in value, so they fixed it. I then had to sell it after repairs. They assessed pre-accident value at $32k even though I got it for $29k back in 2018.
