So the stock giant antenna sucks. What are your favorite cool antenna replacements? The .50 cal is over done… anyone got something cool?

Anything shorter than the stock antenna will have significant reception loss regardless of how "good" it is. Especially at distance. The stock antenna is that long for a reason, it's 1/4 the length of an FM signal wavelength. Any less than that has exponentially worse reception.

My solution was to get a length of 3/4" PVC, fill it with black PlastiDip and dip the stock antenna in it repeatedly until it had a nice thick coating. No reception loss, has padding to protect paint if/when it whips and it looks a lot better than the stock silver.

I taped the threads of the stock antenna then hung it upside down and sprayed plastidip on it. Looks good and has been durable.

All aftermarket antenna's de-gradate AM/FM reception.. Some, not as much a other's..

In times of local disaster ..... fire, flood, etc. sometimes a lets say life line is the local AM/FM channel(s) giving you info on how to get out of town.... which direction the fire or tornado is coming from, large hail coming, where to go for supplies like food and water.... where to go to find medical, local news related to disaster... etc., etc..

Forum member's that have never had to use AM/FM in say disaster times, etc. don't realize just how important and... just what having AM/FM can mean to you in bad times.

More often then not, good old local, AM/FM is still working when Internet, XM and such are not.......

Were my Sons to tell me they were deleting their AM/FM antenna's on their vehicles, I would tell them to think otherwise.... Sure it looks cool but doing so is kinda pound foolish.

With that said, do replace your stock antenna with an antenna that does still afford you decent AM/FM coverage.

Consider buying the aftermarket antenna on Amazon, install it and test reception... and if it does not afford you decent AM/FM reception, send it back to Amazon within 30 days for a full refund.

For the record, I am an avid Xm user.. rarely use the AM/FM ... Yes, I have a decent aftermarket AM/FM antenna (AntennaX CB Replacement AM FM Antenna) that I get decent AM/FM reception with. That particular AntennaX, is no longer sold.

I have a Rydonair but keep the stock one under my rear seat should I ever need it and that way I will not forget where I put it. Maybe???
