Moved from socal to southern Utah (Saint George area) a year ago. No regrets, it's not perfect but the wheeling and exploring is great. Like others have mentioned, if you don't like the snow/inversions and the intense freeway traffic, consider southern Utah. It likely has all the amenities you need. Cons here are the summer heat is intense, the (traditional city) entertainment/drinking dining options are limited. The utilitiy bills here are very low though and the area gets more dining options every week. Good luck, beautiful state either way! BTW, tons of soccer fields leagues, and tournaments, etc all over this area! Only sport more popular is pickle ball.

If you’re still looking, I’d check out Davis county. Close enough to SLC to use/benefit from the amenities. Far enough to be quiet and a lot nicer. Homes are spendy, but no worse than SLC.

I live in Layton, work in Kaysville. We love it up here!!!

I ended up in Cedar City. It hasn’t worked out as I hoped it would. St George is now at the top of my list mainly because of the year round weather for coaching. I will hate the summers though. I was just up in Layton and I really liked it. Syracuse was nice too.

Crazy Update:

So last August, I thought I missed being in Texas and thought I had a slam dunk business to come back to. Well fast forward 9 months and things have not worked out here. Friends and clients have moved on so I decided it's time for me to move on as well. I decided that when my lease is up in November that I will be moving back to Utah. I miss it so much. I have a few opportunities to build a business there. So I decided to move to St George because of the year round outdoor coaching weather. The heat will suck, but I live in Dallas so the heat here is way worse with humidity. I look forward to meeting up with a few of you like @mgroeger and @Village Idiot when I get there.

Awesome, hit me up when you get here!
Idiot, where are you located? I was in Hurricane but built up outside Cedar City in Old Irontown end of last year. Now I'm 1 hour from Sand Hollow :(

Moving to Utah is still on the list of possibilities. Maybe I could open a solid authentic Mexican restaurant to support my hobbies.
