I've decided to move to Utah. Since my first trip to Moab in 2020, one month before the pandemic I knew if I ever got the chance I wanted to move to Utah. Well even though I wish the circumstances were better, I have the opportunity to make a change. On September 29th, my dad passed away. And then 49 days later, my mom passed away. I currently have their house under contract with a closing date of March 31st. I moved on from my business in December and took some time off to deal with the loss of my parents. I decided during that time I wanted to live in Utah. I have tentatively settled on the Salt Lake City area because I'm a soccer coach and they seem to have a few clubs there. 3 weeks ago I bought a Jeep for my new adventure. It's just me and my dog Nick. For all the people who live in Utah, I would love to hear suggestions of places to live especially in the SLC area, but I'm open to other ideas.

@mgroeger and his wife made the move a few years back. He's down in Hurricane, but I know he has some friends up in the SLC area.

Sorry to hear about your parents. If you don't like snow then stay south of Cedar City. In the north Utah (SLC) area, all cities are pretty nice. Highest crime is probably in West Valley. Ogden is a bit industrial. If you don't like the big city but want to be within driving distance to SLC, Heber City (if you like skiing or snow boarding) or Tooele are good options. For a nice small town feel away from everything, Logan is one of my favorites. House prices will probably continue to go down in 2023/2024 so maybe rent for a year to make sure that you like the area before buying.

Appreciate it. I wish they were here, but I wouldn't be going if they were still around. I would prefer south, but I don't think I a make a living coaching. Definitely heard Ogden was a craphole. I don't want to live in SLC. I'm going to be renting for awhile until I settle on an area.

If you want to live south, St. George is a known as a retirement community but since the pandemic a lot of families with kids from California have moved there. It's probably big enough to have some soccer leagues.

Haha. Luckily for UT, AZ, TX, FL, and ID, it's the "good" people in CA that are leaving to those states (many are originally from those states). That is why they are leaving CA.

Trust me they are not welcome here. There are stickers and shirts that say "Don't California My Utah".
They aren't all bad but when you come in slinging cash around to the point that no one can buy a house without being outbid and when you want to bring your $hitty liberal attitude... well those are the ones we don't like.

Again, most that move back there are from there originally and most are moving back there because they can't afford a house in CA. Just because you move from CA doesn't mean that you are a liberal any more that living in Utah makes you a self-righteous Utard.

Heber is a great place to live but is getting priced out from overthrow from Park City. But like was said in previous post if you don’t like snow, stay in the valleys. Even the southern mountains get significant snow.
