My new 37s are interfering with the backup warning alert. I’m running KO3s on AEV Borahs. The Teraflex Alpha carrier is at its topmost setting, and I have the tire valve stem at the 12:00 position, but there are still some random beeps. [surprisingly the stem trick worked a lot] Has anyone any experience in cutting down the bump stops and moving the spare in about ½”+?

I would pull the bump stops push the tire as far back as you can measure then cut.

I ran a 37 on the alpha with no backup sensor issues doing this.

After taking a look at The Teraflex Alpha carrier, I don't see any reason the product I'll list below shouldn't work and fix your problem. Obviously it should go between the Alpha carrier brace and the tire carrier mount.

Rough Country Spare Tire Relocation Bracket for 18-24 Jeep Wrangler JL - 10526

I'm currently in the process of moving my 37-in spare tire out of the cargo area and re-equipping it back on the tailgate.

I'm personally going the cheapest route, and then if I like having it back there, I will get a more permanent solution put in place.

But that Rough Country bracket will increase the tire location height upwards 4.75" from where it is currently located on your Teraflex Alpha Carrier.

I've got one of these in the garage right now. I'm not going to open it until my birthday, and won't install it until next weekend. It is Amazon so returns should be really easy if you did want to go for it now.

Actually I'm thinking of something simple. The Alpha carrier has room to adjust inward at least an inch, but then the stock bump stops would be too long. I'm thinking of hand-trimming the OEM rubber bump stops using a sharp utility knife or some such other tool (I don't own a Dremel). I was hoping to hear from someone who had already done something similar and could tell me if there were any unforeseen clearance issues. Eyeballing it I don't see any.

I suspect no more than .5" inward is needed to quiet the backup alert false alarms. That said, I'm using the Teraflex Alpha carrier mount in conjunction with the Mopar option reinforced carrier. Is the Rough country bracket adjustable, or is it 4.75" or nothing. I don't need more than an inch or so if I go upwad instead of inward.

If that's the case, then might I recommend these trimable bump stops from Quaddratec (sold through Amazon for easy returns :like:)

I'm actually about to order these myself right now to aid in the insulation of my external tire carrier.

I did exactly what you are suggesting, it moved the spare in about half an inch. Worked perfectly.

Teraflex carrier, Mopar hinge gate reinforcement. Rubber bumpers cut down to about 1”

Spring for the Teraflex hinge replacement too and you don’t need rubber bumpers.

I have the same issue on mine. Running 37x12.5x20 Baja Boss AT's. I have Fuel Coupler wheels with dual stems at 12 and 6 - sensor is on the inside (window side) of the top 12:00 position.

I continually get the rear park sense error. The tire is mounted at the top of the mount and flush against the Alpha- no additional bump stops.

Im curious to hear how others have avoided this sensor issue. I've repositioned the mount and stems. Feeling the sensor issue is either bc of the Alpha itself or having a 20" wheel on it.

Curious to hear solutions here too.

This right here is the best solution. The spare tire mounts right up against the carrier and is rock solid. No rubber bumpers needed and no problems with back up sensors. I do this with a 40x13.50 spare tire mounted on a 17x9 wheel with -12 offset, and I have no issues.

My wife tells me that I'm too quick on the trigger with Amazon returns, and I'm going to get us banned someday. :)

On one hand it seems like your wheel size is the probity on the other, it’s only 1.5” closer to anything than a 17” wheel.
You need to borrow a spare on a 17” wheel to see if the problem goes away.

Now that I think of it, I had the factory 20" on a 34x11.5x20 BB AT on the Alpha mount for a couple of weeks until the new setup came. It was mounted on a lower setting and I don't recall a sensor issue

Follow-up by OP:

Success! I ended up buying these (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FLPCFMCQ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title) from Amazon. I had originally planned on going with the Quadratechs, but several reviewers mentioned they were overly “squishy,” so I opted for these instead. They’re definitely nice and firm.

My package arrived yesterday, and I did some major surgery this morning before getting them installed this afternoon. As a reminder, I recently upgraded to 37s, and the extra size interfered with my backup alert signal. I aligned the tire stem to the “noon” position to put more distance between the TPMS signal and the backup alert sensor, which solved about two-thirds of the issue. After trimming the aftermarket bump stops to half an inch shorter than the OEMs, bringing the spare in tighter to the tailgate, the remaining interference was eliminated.

As you can see from the attachment, I had to cut the new ones down quite a bit. I used masking tape as a guide, then used a utility knife with a fresh blade, and it cut cleanly through the material on the second pass around. And...you get a total of four bump stops in case you mess up the first pair.
