Battery range is though.Battery life is not the immediate problem.
Imagine spending an extra $10,000 to $20,000 on a 4xE and only getting a 20 mile EV range. Most of the other plug-in hybrids out there on the market right now, while not bolstering off-road capabilities, have double the EV range if not more, many of which for significantly less dollars spent on vehicle purchase price.
It should be interesting seeing what kind of range the 2025 Mercedes G Wagon gets with its new 48 volt mild hybrid system. Obviously that's a completely different price range, but it does bolster the off-road capabilities that the Wrangler has.
Maybe those innovators over at Jeep and Stellantis will recognize that following the pack isn't the best choice, especially when you do it worse than everyone else.
