Somewhere in one of the other hitch threads it was stated this is for the brake controller. You would need to run a wire from the brake controller over to the brake itself, a ground wire, and that blue wire into the controller. I think that was the gist of it from what I recall reading.
That is what I understand as well. I just left mine tucked behind the passenger footwell trim for now.

Update on the rivet gun needed to install the plastic rivets back on inner wheel well fender plastics. I bought this device http://a.co/53xWPfO which installed the provided rivets just like they came from the factory. You are also required to remove two of these http://a.co/17p0ngq, and the kit does not come with replacements. I broke one removing it, but was able to salvage the second. Replacements are easy to find as Lowes, Amazon, Advanced, etc. sell them, but just a heads up for those taking on the project.

Wish I could have waited, but I'm towing something from Ohio to Tennessee next week and needed a solution. I'm totally happy with the factory parts, just not happy with the price. I was intimidated by the instructions for the install, but it's actually not bad at all. Certainly not as quick and easy as a JK install, but totally a DIY project.

OMG! You are soooo lucky you left the blue wire disconnected, you do NOT want to know what happens when you connect the blue wire. Your life would forever change, and not for the better.

I’ve seen combat hardened USMC Gunnery Sergeants poop themselves when even shown a blue wire.

The blue wire is the only thing Chuck Norris can’t roundhouse.

You remember ‘the most interesting man in the world’? He thought it would be ‘interesting’ to connect the blue wire. Now he lives in the suburbs. With a cat. And drives a civic.
Drogers: I think I "hear" where you're coming from. Contact with the blue wire would much be like "crossing the streams" in Ghost Busters, correct? ;)

Found the installation instructions:

mergedown, I talked with the dealer and they said since I have LED lights it has to be wired differently. Curious if you have the LED lights package on your JLU?

Also the dealer wanted $1500 to install it. I just laughed

Yes, I do have the LED lights. Not really sure how it would be different as you just run power from the front to the back and plug in some connectors.

There's one mentioned in another thread from Tekonsha (#118782) that plugs into the tail light. I think to allow for LED lights you run 1 power wire directly to the battery. I'd imagine someone will post soon about the install and how it works. $1500 is mad money, some others had it done for around $600 total but said dealers hate doing it. Maybe they're trying to price you out of the idea?

This thread shows my install, and the power isn’t run directly from the battery, but from and open bolt on the main fuse box under the hood. You then have to run part of the harness from the right tail light to the left tail light and add a wire to the left tail light connector.

Is it this complicated if we want to install just the 4 pin harness? Like if we only need trailer brake lights?

Can the Mopar kit not be used to install the 4 pin only?
I don’t think so, it’s an all in one install, and you’d have to figure out what powers just the 4 pin.
