This is completely random, I have a 2 door and my Jeep will be fully occupied. I found a mopar steel bumper for an excellent price that coincides with a trip I’m taking.

my question is if I take the ends off, Will the stubby portion of the bumper fit in my trunk or should I start My trip without a bumper and bolt it on; on the spot?

I have the Mopar stubby on mine, and it's about 55" long and about 9" deep.

Even with the rear seat completely removed it wouldn't lay flat.

It will fit in the cargo area with the end caps removed. You may have to fit it sideways but it will fit.

Maybe at an angle standing up, but would be TIGHT. You could just swap out the bumpers when you get there and trash the stock plastic one. ?

Mopar steel bumper fit just fine in 4dr with rear seats down. If you remove the ends, you may be able to but it’s been awhile since I looked at a 2dr to judge

Where are you measuring this lol?
Back corner by swing gate, forward towards seats, either resting on back seat or fold seat and laying down. He said occupied so I will say resting up against back seat. It will fit.

See my measurements above. Angled standing up behind rear seat may be doable, but will be tight based on measurement.

Also didn't mention if it's hard top or soft top. Soft top will have a little more headroom.

I believe if you can get away with it, your idea of leaving without a bumper might be the better one. The Mopar steel bumper is fairly heavy and might end-up damaging something on your way back.

personally take tools with you bolt on the steel bumper and find the nearest dumpster to toss the plastic one in the trash. if you have an impact its only a 5 min job.

You may want to try a simple cardboard or poster board mock up. I used this method for my JLU when I picked up a Rubicon hood in Nashville while in transit from Atlanta to Chicago. Measurements won't alway capture maneuverability issues (i.e., it may fit in the space, but you may not be able to maneuver/twist it into the space). If all else fails and it’s a deal you can’t pass up, just bounce your least favorite passenger ?.

I appreciate everyones comments. I have my soft top on currently.

I’m thinking no bumper is the way.

Probably easiest. How far do you have to go, and how strict are the police in that area?

If you go with no bumper make sure that the new one comes with hardware or remember to bring your old hardware with you.
