This looks fantastic...just convinced me to spring for this.

I have noticed that in some of these pics the trim around the sides and bottom of the grill remains the primary body color, but in others it is satin black. Why the difference?

I’m interested in this mod but I much prefer the side and bottom trim to remain body color.

If you had a Sahara or Rubicon it would be body color. With a Sport you have to order the trim pieces separately and they come black. You can paint them.

Right. I noticed when looking at my grill over the weekend that the grill and the side/bottom trim are one piece. Is the replacement multi part?

Yes. The Satin grill is multi-part like the Sahara or Rubicon.

There is another replacement grill that is unpainted black that is one piece like the sport grill.

You can order them from a dealer and have them paint them (at a cost). I don't believe there is any way to order them already painted.

I wonder if it would make sense to just have the main part of my own grill wrapped or painted.

A lot of people use plastidip.

Do have a question though? Is there any special care with this like for traditional matte paint or is normal detailing no issue?

I wanted the Satin Black grill for my JL Sport, so I removed the grill, prepped it , painted it Satin Black with Krylon that is especially for plastic. Looks factory, super easy to do...
