I really haven't put in any effort since the trip out to Afton Canyon in November. I need to run the rest of the trail. I'm not much of a tour guide, but I thought I should make an effort to re-acquaint myself with some of the landmarks and history of the trail. Early April is about the time where winter weather and summer heat are mild enough to create the most pleasant time in the Mojave.

I am hoping that this will fall sometime in mid to late January.
Ted,
If you're out here around then, maybe we can do a pre-run around then. Let me know, and I'll see. I'm planning some heavy work on my Jeep, and would need a bit of notice to ensure it's up and running.

All good. I was planning on running it solo in late March early April depending on work etc. I’ll keep an eye out, if I end up running it sooner, I’ll post some updated trail conditions.

Ted,
Thanks for the offer, but nah, it's all stuff I've done before. I need to dig into my front axle and replace the locker actuator electromagnet. I just brought it home from leaving it in AZ after I got covid there and it went to pneumonia. For the Mojave trail, I won't need a front locker, or even rear locker.

When do you think you'll be around southern Cal?

Ted,
Still interested in running the Mojave Trail?
I had to return to Michigan. My wife’s dad has been hospitalized going on two weeks with no real end insight. They almost put him in hospice yesterday. I made it as far as San Antonio Texas before I flew Carla home then drove back home myself. We have canceled all travel plans until May or June when we will try going to Alaska. Hopefully family issues for my wife will be resolved by then.

Sorry to hear about your wife's father. Keep the trail in mind. My brother coincidentally hit me up about going out to some of the points of interest along the trail, but hopping on the highway between them. I'll probably do some hybrid pre-run soon and I'll be able to be a better guide. It's pretty chilly at night out there this time of year and can dip into the teens on occasion. I think our pre-run will be day only. The best time to run the trail is in the spring or fall. Our annual horse ride that went from Camp Cady on the west end to the Colorado River was in March every year. Most years it was decent camping and great day weather.
Best regards
