We’ve owned both eTorque versions of the 2.0 and 3.6 concurrently. The Sahara ended up with 35’s, Rubicon fenders, 1” Synergy lift (mostly a modest overland setup) and 4.56’s. The Rubicon is stock. We both liked the 2.0 more. More power and economy. Went through Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and 10-12k feet in Colorado. 2.0 for the win. Less shifting in the 2.0 which will add wear on the bands and clutch packs too. So there’s that.

Seems the engine braking in both from the eTorque is helping brake pad life too. Mostly hwy use for both with road trips and commute but I know on the Rubicon the front pads still have 6mm left at 100k miles. Impressive.

The Sahara was paid off and we needed the money so I had to sell it. Sucks. Starting over with the Rubicon. Just found corrosion on it too which the Sahara didn’t have. I actually liked the antique engine sounds the 2.0 made…like the old 4 cylinders in the OG military Jeeps to me.

And I just did the oil cooler and plugs on the 3.6. Not fun compared to the 2.0. Next I get to remove the MGU, coolant lines, fan shroud, air box, etc just to swap pulleys and belts. The dealer wanted over $1200. NOPE.
Honestly, for standard at-home maintenance, it's the plugs that're the worst with the 3.6. Whoever plopped that intake manifold on top of the driver's side bank deserves butt herpes.

Dang, you can really tell the paid Stellantis folks pushing the 4 banger at the beginning of this thread. The 4 is the greatest engine and most power thing ever created, and if you live on top of Pikes Peak or Mt Rainier its the only choice. The 6 is garbage, buy the 4 and you will be the happiest Jeep owner on the planet, and even Mars. Take your paid forum talk somewhere else.
Nah, two more pro-2.0 posts and I'll have enough paid forum talk for some new shocks.

Wasn't the 318 pretty damn wimpy? Like 155 HP?
Shhh, turbos are scary, don't scare him by pointing out the 2.0 makes better horsepower and torque than his old "powerful" V8s.

The power difference isn’t THAT great. Let’s not get crazy here. lol Our eTorque 3.6 is super close and some days it’s even with the 2.0 depending on ambient temps, barometric pressure. Again, we owned both eTorques at the same time for 2.5 years.
Honestly it's the way the torque comes on different that makes me prefer my 2.0 over my 3.6. The 2.0 just doesn't feel as labored getting up to speed with how much torque is available so fast.

Yeah it's yet another overblown thing...both engines are disappointing on the power front. I always get a laugh out of guys here boasting about the turbo being "so fast" when pretty much all of the Wrangler's competition is getting 300hp+ out of their turbo 4 bangers and 320hp+ out of their sixes.

I've said it eleventy billion times already - both these engines are meh.

Nobody's talking about their 2.0 being fast in a "my Jeep is fast sense", but fast in a "it builds its torque quickly" sense. Jeeps aren't fast.

And the Wrangler's competition is doing that with larger displacement Turbo-4s and Twin Turbo V6s. Not a big surprise that they're more powerful. I would say that a flatter torque curve is more important in a Jeep than simple peak power.

I think, most importantly, the competition's engines aren't in a Jeep, so what does the comparison matter? Talking about the engines offered in Jeeps, not engines that aren't.

Sounds like someone who's bitter that their simple and reliable v6 isn't simple...or reliable? The 2.0t is peppier under spirited driving at sea level, is night and day at elevation. Those are facts, and my own personal experience... and I currently own 2 pentastar equipped Jeeps and no 2.0ts.

Who gives a crap about displacement when those engines are producing more power across the band and getting better fuel mileage in the process? I guess its useful for bench racing but that's about it.
