Only thing I’ve done is this (pic attached). There’s some cool decals on Etsy.
I’ve been looking into getting the leather Sahara dash... about $300 tho
I’ve also thought about taking it out and painting it to match my sting gray color

Hi I’m new to the forum and I have a 2019 JL with the grey dash and would love to trade someone for a red one I don’t know if the years are compatible.

I'm curious if anyone out there has a 2021 Rubicon with the red dash. The red is a bit much for me and I was thinking of covering it. is it possible to cover it with vinyl wrap or would that disable its ability to be effective with the airbags?
Let me know what you all have done! Thanks in advance.
I like the red dash, although it helps that I have Sting Gray.....

I don't think it goes well with the yellow, green or blue colors tho....A good wrap shop could wrap it for you in any color and or texture you want these days for like under $200 I would imagine

The leather has a seam where the airbag comes out and special thread to allow it to rip apart easily.

Why take a chance where safety is concerned?
You think airbags keep you safe? So you haven't had one go off in your face then....

There is no way vinyl wrap is stopping your airbag from deploying... no way.

Nice but not $1800 nice IMO ?
I haven’t prices anything out with them in a while, probably back when I first got the Jeep and by now the dash has grown on me. But if I recall, $1800 was the entire kit with the wheel and door handles. Just the dash is less.

Once I receive my 21’ Rubi I’m taking the dash apart and painting all the red pieces black (most likely gloss, but am considering matte as well).

I kind of doubt that. Have you ever had one go off in your face? It is a pretty impressive explosion. If the Sahara has leather on it and that splits, I doubt a thin vinyl wrap would be an issue.
I’ve manually set one off. It was done in a controlled environment. So yes, I know what they can do.

The dash panel, with or without leather, is designed to split without anything covering it. I wouldn’t fully cover it with vinyl. If you or the OP want to mess with that, be my guest.

I would imagine an airbag would go right through that like a hot knife through warm butter....
Not necessarily. You want to chance it?

My wife likes the red, it's her car.

You are being overly dramatic suggesting a thin sheet of vinyl would have any impact, it is a silly argument... The freaking bomb in your dash will still go off, the bag will still deploy. I fail to see why people try to make these arguments, is it just to breed fear?

I would much prefer to not have an explosive poised to go off in my face in the first place. I had some pretty good burns from one when a deer impaled itself on my car. Maybe I should vinyl wrap all of my airbags:CWL:
