I purchased the MC HD steering system with the fox stabilizer vs the rocksport..

When I tried to install according to the pictures on their website it would bind the body of the stabilizer (it was obvious full lock turn would cause contact. So, I flipped it around so the rod end attaches to the axle and the body end attaches to the tie rod. Really odd they show it the other way. Curious what others have done. Should make no difference in function.

This is what their website shows (they don't have any specific instructions for it)

But the high level view on their site as well is how I had to installed it.

I was having SS issues, though no MC stuff. What exactly was binding? The actual shock body on the stabilizer bracket? Or on one of the bars?

I like MC, quality company, but there’s a couple things I don’t like they do, that axle side bracket for one, and their sway bar links on the Rubi (that’s a story for another day) ….. I never liked that angle it puts the stabilizer in… I’m sure it works fine, been engineered all that happy horseshit, but I don’t like it….. not alone on this, I’ve changed a couple out for a couple customers…….can you tell if you were in line with the tie rod, like in pic, if it would make any difference ?

Also, let me know if you get a pull to drivers with that stabilizer, some are over charged and extend on their own…….

Hopefully these pictures explain the issue. It was contacting the bracket anywhere towards a full lock turn as the tire rod moves closer to the axle.. The bracket is just not compatible with the stabilizer in that orientation.. It does work the other way around, but hopefully no other contact as the arms cycle. Just really odd they show it installed in an orientation that could never work (at least on my JL rubicon).

Also, you mentioned the MC swaybar links for rubi.. I had mine bend up because the swaybar inverted on an obstacle.. I called them and asked if they were sure they were long enough.. They claimed they were (but they had heard of of it happening)...so, I ended up buying other ones from Clayton and making them longer to hopefully avoid that from ever happening again. (I'm running different shocks even though I verified against their measurements, so I chalked it up to that) MC makes some decent products and has great customer service... but their instructions are often very lacking considering what you pay. They provide no torque specs, techniques etc.. It's more like marketing material. I like how the drag link instructions state "remove drag link from pitman arm". Luckily I've done it more than few times, but I bet it does not go well for some. I'm guessing they keep them sparse and marketing oriented to keep their jobber shops happy with that specialty knowledge. IMHO, You really should not need specific experience to install an off the shelf product at premium prices. They should provide that for you from their R&D work. anyway.. off my soapbox ;-)

Can you circle in your pics exactly where it’s hitting/binding? The same kit I installed on my 2018 JL and I had the exposed shaft installed towards center not at the upper bracket. I had to slightly rotate the lower bracket backwards to clear at full lock.

We notice a lot of issues with their directions. Really they are just very generic and don’t apply to many applications. This was very true on the Ram 2500 lift for the 2020 model.

Should be clear in post # 5, but I'll circle it here.. I installed it flipped with the exposed shaft on the axle side vs the tie rod side and it seems to be working fine in that orientation.. There is no way it would have worked the other way on my particular setup and that should be shown in post #5.. My Jeep is a XR Rubicon and I have found a few things different overall with my factory brackets that nobody else seems to have, so that may be part of it.. They made minor tweaks for the factory 2" lift, but not sure on the front axle.. I know the rear track bar mount was raised.

I installed this setup on the stock track bar a few weeks ago and had the same binding issue, so I flipped it around as you have noted. it's been working just fine and hopefully I will not be replacing the shock, it's the third one that I've installed due to rocks.

Yep as you’ve already done, just leave it flipped for your particular setup. No worries.
