Max Tow Package Options

Hi All - I did try to search for the answer before creating a new thread, so ya'll bear with me.

Is the Max Tow Package only available in Sport models? I currently have a 2020 Rubicon with the tow package and I believe that gave me a larger alternator and battery and Class II hitch. I'm having a hard time finding new Rubicons with the Max Tow Package, there are some with just the Tow package, but it doesn't show a bigger battery or alternator.

I read somewhere that the Max Tow with the 4.56 gears is only offered in the Sport models.

I'm really just looking to see how I can get to that 5,000 pound towing capability with a Rubicon. Any info ya'll can provide is much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure the Max Tow option is only available on the Gladiator in the sport package. I believe the Wrangler just has the option to come with a "tow package"

You are going to get many different responses because stellantis has done a poor job documenting/marketing the 5k towing in the wrangler. To get the 5k towing you have to have the full floating rear axle that is only available starting in the 2024 Rubicon. When originally launched for 24 the tow package became standard on the Rubicon (5k towing) so it was not listed. Then midway through 24 the hitch and auxiliary switches became a hidden $90-100 option. By hidden it wasn't on build and price and even most dealers didn't know it was an option. Then it became standard again at some point I think.

Now here is more confusion. The 2.0 and 3.6 both got the 5k towing not the 392 and I do not believe the 4xe ever got it. When it launched in 24 the Rubicon X nor the big wheel option on the Rubicon got the 5k either as it dropped back to 3.5k. People have said that has changed but I can't confirm that.

To add to the confusion the original 24 owners manual incorrectly said the Rubicon only had 3.5k but that was corrected. There is still debate on this forum about the hitch rating of the Rubicon but I've been told the hitch is rated to 5k. To be certified on the SAE J2807 (society of automotive engineers) test it has to be the standard/optional equipment on the vehicle being tested to be rated at 5k.

But.... take this as just another unknown person on this forum but I got the 24 Rubicon specifically for the 5k and I've confirmed to my satisfaction the above information.
