I feel like at some point this year I'm going to end up with a backup vehicle just for this reason. Not having a functioning car for 2 months just hasn't been realistic.

If I do ever end up with another Jeep I know for sure I won't be buying it at the dealer that had mine. Just a bunch of incompetent dummies over there.
Still cant believe they fucked up clutches this badly on this generation. 3 recalls and now this (not super common)crap.

Probably should have just bought a Bronco. Would have been "the devil you know" for me. I'm a Ford guy, well, used to be. Pretty much all manufacturers suck at this point, or Im at the age where what I want isnt catered to anymore. Sad times.

Which dealer were you taking it to, if you don't mind me asking?

@SadRobot
Im just seeing bits and pieces of news on the SoCal winds, fires, and evacuations. Hope all is well with you and the other SoCal folks
Thanks. I think this is the biggest disaster in Los Angeles County history. Over a thousand homes have been lost so far. I'm so grateful that I woke up this morning and still have my house. The fire closest to me is still at 0% containment and my area remains in Level 2 Evacuation warning.

The city of Altadena is basically gone. Pacific Palisades is gone. I have friends who lost their homes yesterday.

I'll be watching the news all day and hoping at some point they can start containing the fire and I'll be able to unpack the Jeep and move my stuff back into the house. Once that happens I'll start work on the Jeep again. At the moment I'm just happy I got it driving again and beyond that it doesn't really seem important right now.

Glad you’re ok. It’s sad to hear about people losing their homes and belongings. It doesn’t make it any easier to lose a home or sentimental belongings, but people are what really matters.

@fspalt @SadRobot @azwjowner I found a video showing a “dry vac”‘method from early 2000’s recognized by Ford and GM, but is common for bleeding concentric (internal) slaves,
video link:
but come to find out now per @SadRobot posting of the centerforce method for their master/slave kit, it’s exactly the same process. I will have a full YouTube “How To” hopefully by the weekend on Gator Overland channel. I tried to upload a short clip of it, but it’s too long. Here’s a link to the Facebook post where I explained what I did.
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19Za3pL8ir/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Steps:
-make sure your clutch side of fluid in reservoir is full
-find a rubber stopper (make a hole if needed)
-plug in your vac connector
-pull 10-15” of vacuum and let it sit (I left overnite 8hrs)
-Check for improvements and repeat as needed
Trying this vacuum bleeding method today and cannot get the vacuum to hold pressure. Bought some rubber stoppers and drilled a hole to fit the adapters with the mitivac. Steadily looses pressure over time. Have tried a few different adapters, hoses, etc but cannot get the vacuum to hold. Not sure if it is due to a leak in the system from the mitivac or if that means it’s pulling air from the clutch/brake system.

Try to pull vacuum on a single container and see if it holds to test your vac.

This is what I used. I found a rubber washer sitting around. No idea what it was from originally. I then used the Mityvac adapter to put over that washer. I basically tried to duplicate the tools a CFII kit would come with.

Mine held vacuum all night. It didn't make a difference in the pedal but it did hold.

How long is yours holding for?

thanks for the suggestion. I did test it prior to using it on the jeep and it help pressure. Thinking I have a leak in my set up.

this is my setup. It doesn’t hold for very long. So far this setup is the “best” one I’ve made today. The rubber gasket that came with the kit was way too small to fit the opening of the reservoir.

Well that's frustrating. I guess time to pull the slave and see if leaking in there if you haven't done that already.
