2024 jlu manual trans I get a odd sound when I downshift to 3rd. sounds like a pump over pressure (vvvverp) it's hard to describe but doesn't happen every time and usually over 40 slowing down only going into 3rd.

Only third gear? That’s odd..
How many Kms do you have?

It's got 12k miles but it's been doing it since day 1. some days I can get it to happen multiple times in a row. I've tried to repeat it to get "it happens here" for the dealer but it's not consistent

Might be an issue with the gear box. I would get it checked out while it’s still under warranty

might be the clutch too, with the recall, better to be safe than sorry

It's a 24 no clutch recall on it and dealer " didn't duplicate the issue last time they had it. I've worked In the industry for 13 years but got out in 2020 when a much better paying job option opened up. It's going in tomorrow for the dash recall they have to keep it for milage accuracy

Back in early 2000's GM trucks would make a clunk similar to how you describe. It was the drive shaft slip spline area. Had a blue grease on the area. You would clean it and relube on the heavy side. Not sure if the JL shaft is like that.

I had that start recently with my 2020. It is something in the trans spinning, but it happens so randomly I have not had any ideas why. My best guess is the synchros not mating quite right to the shift splines.

Interesting. I have a weird quirk in my MT also. But it’s under load and somewhere near 35-45mph in 3rd gear it’s almost like a stumble. Every single time. About 815 miles.

Odd part is it shifts and drives fine. it only seems to be when I'm slowing to turn and shift into 3rd let the cluth out and it happens. I try to duplicate it and i can't make it happen in the same conditins consistent enough to say i have an idea. Where to start looking. so whatever it is it's random. I almost think it could be the vac pump system due to high engine vac with closed throttle and pump trying to create that sweet spot at the same time. But I'm not familiar with the system.
