An update on my repair. I took the Jeep to a transmission shop in San Jose. I gave them a complete CF master slave kit, and hydraulic line. After troubleshooting they replaced the master and the hydraulic lines, but not the slave.

The clutch pedal engagement is as good as or better than I remember from stock. Instead of grabbing just off the floor, you get a bit of pedal travel (maybe 2 to 3 inches) before the clutch engages and the stroke seems to be consistent pressure all the way to the top of the travel. It is heavy, but I would gladly trade being able to shift for a heavy clutch. The tech said that the pedal would get less heavy as the master breaks in and that the master was bad but I don't know the details on what was wrong with it. I still have the slave from the kit so if the weight doesn't get better then I'll put the slave in as well.

We're taking the Jeep on a nice long drive today, and I'll update if there's any changes.

Edit - I forgot to add that I no longer need to stomp on the clutch pedal to get the thing to start.
What was their reasoning for not installing the slave that came with the kit as well?

Before or even after you replaced your slave and bled the system did you ever have a creaking sound when pressing or releasing the clutch pedal? Mine will do this after it warms up a few miles down the road. Noise present if Jeep is running and when off. Goes away after it cools down (usually over night). Hopefully my video uploads correct.

If you look back at page 1 of this thread I posted a video of my croaking sound. I first remember hearing it a few weeks prior to shifting issues starting. After replacing the slave, master and line the sound still persisted.

@BHank0688 the first clip was the sound of my pedal operation after installation of the slave cylinder and bleeding at the slave cylinder in position on the trans with no bubbles visible, but prior to pulling vacuum from the fluid reservoir. The function was firm but there was an audible squeak/whoosh that wasn’t present before.
The second clip is after letting placing 15” of vacuum on the reservoir for 8ish hours. Operation was slightly firmer and sound was minimal.. if anything, while my door is open, all I hear now is the clutch fork moving in the Trans.

Interesting the noticeable sound change. I can’t find any visible leaks on mine. I did see where you used a chair piece and vacuum bled at the reservoir. That’s next on my list to try as I’ve only bled mine at the slave. Always did find it interesting how much air was in my clutch hydros after my act Install, and none of it was ever disconnected. It would fully engage maybe 1/2 inch from the floor until it was bled quite a few times.

Was the slave that came with your kit the type that mounts inside the bell housing directly behind the throwout bearing?
No, mine is the same as @Duece McCracken , which bolts up into the same spot as the OEM one on the side of the transmission.

He said that there was no need because the slave was fine.

An interesting thing I noticed is that the hydraulic hose from the center force kit is much larger diameter then the combination of plastic and metal tubing from the OEM hydraulic lines. I wish I took a picture of it but the OEM ones almost looked kinked at the bends, which may be why we're having a hard time bleeding those.

Here's an OEM line.

Yeah, replacing that line was one of the big appeals with the CF hydraulic kit.

Does the CF line clip on anywhere? With the OEM it has 2 clips onto the firewall and then sits in a bracket attached to the transmission.

I split some silicone vacuum line and sleeved the line at the trans mount, then Ty-wrapped it into that bracket. I wanted to protect the braid from the steel bracket.

For the two firewall clips, I Ty-wrapped the braided line to those mounts.

No big deal, but as you suspect, it doesnt directly work with OEM mounts.

I have to admit I had to read that a few times to understand but now I gotcha.

For a second my mind was here though:

I'll take a couple pics, lmao

Maybe a small video if I'm feeling it.

It's cold and semi snowy here, so havnt done anymore troubleshooting.

I did get it stuck in reverse, shut off the truck, and still couldnt get it out. The trans may have had some weight loaded on the drivetrain. Regardless, it was an issue both running and none running. Had to initiate vehicle motion to get it out of gear.

Thank you for documenting all of this for us. I find myself checking this thread a few times a day for your updates.

Correct, the hydraulics have not solved my lockout issues. They did make my shifts in general better. That is case specific to my previous hydraulic situation, not a gear lockout thing.

So the quest continues!!!
