I am looking on some insight on why my 2019 2.0 JLU Sahara is making this loud fan noise. Only starts after I have been driving for just a bit and tones down and stops when coming to a stop. I’m not getting any check engine lights and all temps are mostly around the middle line (not sure on specific temps). Just not sure because it’s been around 85-92 degrees and humid? Is it a coolant fan? Thanks for anything!

The JL engine fan will go into jet turbine mode occasionally when it gets hot. It's normal and not a problem in itself unless it happens often and its a symptom of another problem. Things that can set it off in high temps include AC, going up long steep hills, strenuous off-roading, etc.

Make sure nothing is blocking your radiator airflow, no dirt, bugs, etc. Keep an eye on coolant temp for high temps, spikes, anything weird.

Personally I'm blaming the angry grille. ?

Try running your climate (AC) in a manual mode. Unless it is hot it may avoid the crazy jet turbine mode.

Forum search using words: TSB18-041-18 Rev. B

If you have a 2018 JL, there is a newer revision of the TSB that addressed the fan noise and more.
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10162534-9999.pdf

Note: There may be an even newer bulletin that supersedes this bulletin.

Old post on a forum I made in 2018:

Urgent: FCA has an update in regard to this TSB. It is TSB 18-092-19. IF, you own a 2018 JL, you will definitely want this update!

Why..... as now, (18-041-18 Rev. B, did not include) along with fixing the hi rev issue, TSB 18-092-19, addresses how the JL deals with a depleted Aux battery. Without this pcm update, if the 2018's, Aux battery is depleted, the 2018, JL will not try to start. With this pcm update, the 2018 will try to start, fail, but will start on the 2nd attempt so you are not left stranded / no start scenario.

2019 and newer JL's left the factory with this pcm update.

Again if you have a 2018 JL and it has not had this update, do get it done.

IF, your JL has over 36,000 miles and your regular warranty is finished, the dealer can do this update on your JL for free as the update is covered under the longer power train warranty..

I have a 2021 WILLYS and I can confirm that this is the loudest fan of any vehicle I've owned. When it kicks on, you definitely know it.
