Coming from the last few of my cars all being sedans the Jeep steering feels really loose, not wobbly or anything just loose. I’m used to a much stiffer steering set up and while I’m sure I can get use to it, is this normal for Jeep’s and is there a way to possibly stiffen it up a bit?

This is the way it is. Yes there are some mods, if you search for loose JL Wrangler steering there are lots of recommendations from tire pressure to adding stabilizer bars, etc.

Now some people seem to have overly loose steering and have needed a computer flash but I would be surprised if that is the case with yours. You could always ask to drive a different one and see if it is normal.

There are lots of threads on this and there have been issue with the steering box in the past but the 2021's come with the improved steering box so I can't imagine your steering is related to that. I drive an RAM 1500 that rides / steers like a sedan and our new Wrangler with 35's is most definitely a different world when it comes to steering / wander. It's the nature of the beast. Last night I drove home in 40+ MPH wind gusts, people behind me probably thought I was a little tipsy ;)

This site is so dense with threads on loose steering that if you try to read them all they form a black hole and suck you into another dimension.

To save you from that fate, there's a significant chance something is wrong with your steering. Start with looking to see if you have a silver or black steering box.

If this is your first Jeep then yes it will definitely feel loose compared to a car. The lack of a standard steering rack and caster angle results in lighter steering with less re-centering.
