Hey Everyone,

So I have a '21 4xe and have 315 /70 R17 on for over a year now. They are not wider than stock but they're taller. I didn't do anything else really to the 4xe but lately to me it feels loose when driving around town. It could be my imagination since I've been driving my other vehicle a lot lately and it basically like a go cart for the road.

But I'm open to a lift if it would help but I'm thinking maybe I need a better suspension to make it tighter. (Also this is my first jeep and haven't really modded it too much. Mostly cosmetic stuff...)

Thanks!

Possibly worn shocks. The 4XE especially like to blows shock very quickly. If you've got over 40k just replace them and see.

A lift will only make it more "wobbly" as you're further raising the center of gravity. The only point of a lift is to fit bigger tires, which you already can fit without issue. Unless you're going for a specific look there's no reason to lift it.

How you feel about fox performance shocks? I was thinking of ordering those to replace.

Which ones were you looking at? I've been wondering about the Fox 2.5" IFP for when it's time for me to replace mine, and would be interested in your thoughts if you go with them.

I was looking at those but after reading another thread, and the fact that most of my driving is on pavement versus other type of terrain (i know, i know...) I was told the Fox 2.0 would be sufficient enough for my needs. I was looking at getting the 2.5's though first. I'm still reading other threads and trying to read about what other opinions.
I understand that I can already fit a 35" but when I do go off-roading I want to be able to not rub since putting the 35's on, I haven't really been able to take time off to enjoy.

Highly recommended. This is what I swapped onto my 2016 when the time came. You can even buy them from the dealer and have a mopar warranty on them

FYI, the section width of your tire is the first digits. A 315 tire is 30mm wider than a 285 (stock) tire unless you have some strange stock size. While the outer edge of the tire sides may seem the same you have an increase of just over an inch on the contact patch.

Individual tires will vary in exact dimensions of course but saying a 315 is the same width as a 285 is not true.

Shocks might be your issue as stated above. You should also check your suspension links for wear (play) as that will also greatly effect the ride and will (most likely) eventually give you death wobble.

Now the question is, shocks are 800 dollars. Do I just fork out 3k for 2.5" lift with shocks?

No. Buy the shocks. As stated earlier there is zero reason to do a lift if you can already fit the tires. The lift will reduce handling and overall ride quality from the standard suspension geometry. The only point of the lift is to fit bigger tires or if you're hellbent on a specific look.

$800 for a full set of quality shocks is a normal price. The fox ones can range from 150-300$ each depending on the model

I'm at 44,000 on my "21 and just started experiencing the same thing. Please, let us know the difference when you replace the shocks.
