I get it, a lot of jokes come to my mind too, but please, I actually need some help here: I'm not even sure what this part is called, but here goes. When you insert the gas station nozzle into the Jeep, the hole that holds the nozzle and allows you to refill the tank without holding onto the fuel pump. Mine seems loose. The fuel pump is at such a bad angle it keeps shutting itself off and won't fill the tank. It also moves around where my old JK one didn't move. Anyone know how hard this is to deal with? I've never taken apart that area of the Jeep and I'm not sure what's there...

Hi,

Not sure if all fuel filler tubes are the same per drivetrain or not as your image looks like a 392, I have a 3.6 and really haven't noticed anything different than my wife's 2015.

I have read other models of FCA have done away with caps and have created a bunch of filling issues on Ram trucks, not sure on other models/brands.

Regards,
Jim

Nah, good question. Everything is so complicated these days.
Hopefully, someone more knowledgable will post but in the meantime…

Ummm, that 392 has sucked so much fuel it created a vacuum and collapsed your filler tube ?. Seriously, mine has to kind of be spoon fed as well. On some pumps it does not want to stay on automatically (and I’ve a lowly 2.0). I suspect it has to do with the flow rate of the pump in question as it does not always happen.

On all 3 of ours, #3 is very loose, like it just floats. Like it's not bolted down, which it may not be.

My last TJ had a stuck check valve. Common problem (I've seen people blame ethanol) but the fix involves dropping the fuel tank and I'm lazy. So I lived with slow fills for several years. What I found to work is put the pump nozzle in upside down. Yes, you look like an idiot but with the pump upside down the sensor that shuts off the pump doesn't seem to get tripped as easily and you can get a more complete fill. Just know that you may want to stand back slightly because sometimes you will get splash back. Nothing insane but it can happen depending on the pump.

My experience has been exactly like yours, Overwatch, on a 2020 3.6L and a 2021 4xe. I've found MrMischief's tip to work, when I remember it.

I will try filling upside down. I seriously would never have thought of it. Thanks! Hopefully it works in CA with our stupid gas pump covers....

Good man.

Be careful visiting that site, if or when you ever own a motorcycle. Their gear won't be kind to your wallet. Voice of experience. ;)
