@Terrymo Thanks for the great picture! Is that a frame mounted front LCA skidplate? I want to do something for the fronts at least as they got pretty beat up too. Did you install and cut the old pipe while still mounted in your Jeep?

BTW, friend had an early Buick Grand National with the turbo v6 and the early 80s Buick odd-fire v6s were more desirable than the later even fire because they made more power. I'm not doing this mod for power, just don't want to smash expensive stuff if it's avoidable...sometimes less is more. Trying to keep my Jeep lighter weight too, so cutting things off helps too lol.
Turbo Buicks were all even fire. Odd fire ended in the late 70’s. Exhaust scavenging will be better on an even fire than an odd fire giving it a performance advantage.

Many things on the JL are mpg and money related and not necessarily what the engineers would choose left to their own devices. Not saying thats the case in this instance. Just that the reply we hear often that “the engineers knew what they were doing I’m not changing it“ isn’t necessarily how things come to be,

I had the skid row skid plate which is super sturdy but it no longer fits with my MC geo brackets. The brackets sit low enough to help protect the loop but its still exposed to potential mishap. I may have to consider doing the delete, especially with the rubicon coming up.

taking my jeep for its first smog today. Then 2 year break till next one. Lately when ive taken my vehicles for smog i noticed they take bomb checking mirrors under the vehicle. Id hate for them to not visually pass it due to the delete. Maybe it will get covered in mud/dirt by then so it wouldnt be noticeable lol

There is nothing in it that is an emissions item so changing it wouldnt fail an emissions inspection.

Well it’s a 2023 so not yet. But it’s after the cats so I don’t see how.
It's probably only something you'd see on a tailpipe emissions test at speed. Since it's after the cats CARB has no effect on it. I'll also throw on my tinfoil hat and say you lost a solid 1HP.

Remember OEMs don't use more steel than they have to, and doing such a silly exhaust loop must've had very important engineering (EPA?) reasons.

Dood, it's a Jeep. It wasn't that complicated, they were just fucking with us.
