What are you trying to do? Get a little more height? Go off-road? Look ‘cooler’? I’m lost. Go to this and put in your tire size and see alternates and their dimensions. The 3% before it starts to tamper with the speedometer and the mileage.
Have the tires stick out just a bit and look more beefy, yeah I guess you can say ‘cooler’ look. What are you trying to do? Get a little more height? Go off-road? Look ‘cooler’? I’m lost. Go to this and put in your tire size and see alternates and their dimensions.

Height is not deal breaker but if it can be done then yes that to without doing lifters
Thank you so much dragonegg. for the chart!Have the tires stick out just a bit and look more beefy, yeah I guess you can say ‘cooler’ look.

Nah, we didn't even start talking about lifters yet.I thought this was gonna be another 50 pager but it somehow got resolved in 3.![]()
The 3% tolerance limit for mileage and speedometer readings is important to consider. At the same time, I want to achieve a bold, aggressive look while keeping my rims at 20 inches. Apologies for the rough phrasing earlier.275/60/20 is 33”, and will fit with no lift.
What is the percent limit, a New York state thing?
Thank you,Let’s not beat the new guy up for being unaware of all things wheels and tires, or Jeep.
Are you sure you want to keep a 20” wheel? A 33” tire on a 20” wheel isn’t near as beefy looking as a 33” tire on a 17” wheel.
If you aren’t planning on lifting, a zero (0) offset wheel will push about 3/4-1” of the tire outside of the fender. Any further will likely rub.
As for the 3% speedometer error, tough call. But going from a 32” tire to a 33” tires isn’t a big change. Your speedo already may already read 2-3 MPH fast at 60 MPH. Going up an inch in tire diameter will likely make it read correctly. You can check this with many of the available speedometer apps out there, I use Speedbox.
Many people seem to use the word “rim” in place of wheel. Some will get touchy about that. 20” and larger wheels aren’t taken seriously in the Wrangler community.
All Wranglers are Trail Rated, whatever that really means is up for debate.
I just googled it and the only thing that comes up is an Italian wine. What's "grappa tires"?
Except he wants to keep a 20” wheel.I just googled it and the only thing that comes up is an Italian wine.
I think what @jimmy357 should get is a set of 33" Rubi takeoffs and some cheap skinny fenders from Amazon. He'll get the larger more aggressive tire look he wants and it'll give it the poke affect he's looking for.
Well I guess then that's where I'm confused. Why does he want new wheels when he already has the wheels he wants?Except he wants to keep a 20” wheel.
