I never understand these kinds of threads. Do you not understand by now that you can encounter a dumb dumb of an employee at basically any business on any given day? That "your mileage may vary" saying pretty much applies 24/7 anywhere you go. I could be dealing with a great employee on a Tuesday while Joe Blow has a horrible experience with some else on a Thursday

Yall a bunch of cinnamon buns up in here.

I’m going to echo your post.

My post was just a story about my experience on what I consider stupid a company policy, an asshole, a nice kid and chain stores.

I don’t have high expectations of chain stores. Sure they have policies and procedures that are probably great in theory but the x factor is the employee. It’s just like McDonald’s. It depends on the day, employee or location as to the service you receive. Most chains have a high turnover rate and finding good employees is not easy.

If I need or want something done to a higher standard or a high level of service I usually find an independent. It’s not always a guarantee but your chances are better in my opinion.

Discount Tires forum guy reached out to me wanting to see what he could try to do to make things right with me. While I appreciate the gesture I honestly don’t care about what happened. I have not lost sleep over the incident. It is what it is.

Like most people, I've dealt with a LOT of companies of all types in the last 30 years. Discount Tire and their online presence Discount Tire Direct are the two best companies I've ever dealt with. Ever. Their phone reps are amazing. Their stores in Louisville, KY are top notch. Extremely professional guys, very helpful, balance my large tires perfect every time. Never try to sell me on crap I don't want or need. They do always offer their road hazard, but they don't push it. I leave them 5-star reviews whenever I can.

As far as the OP's post... those tires are not being run at correct pressures. And, they're Kanati for crying out loud. Not saying off-brand tires are to be avoided, but you can't expect 60k and perfect balancing out of a set of no-name brand tires.

Many people throw out the word road force balance. If the machine does not have a heavy steel wheel to push against the tire while it is spinning then it is not road force balancing. Discount tire does not do road force balance. They do dynamic balancing or spin balance.

Road force balance cost easily at least $15 per tire to balance. It has a laser that picks out and maps the high spots of the tire it can also tell you if the tire is other than round.

One company has the “road force” name to their product. You can see the steel drum that applies the “road force“ to the tire. Check discount tire, their machines are not road force and will not have the steel drum.

I’m not sure where you are, but I’m at Discount Tire as I’m typing this. They have 4 of these exact machines.

EDIT: Nope, all 7 machines.

These guys gave me no grief about loading 3 in the back and storing the other 2 behind the shop until I could come back and pick them up.

I couldn't take a picture, I was too busy trying to tell the wife I needed her to follow me to Discount Tire because I needed a " tire rotation " ., then she waked in when the counter guy was showing me my new 35"s on the jeep. Busted again

@Craigzjeep, oh man, that's a awkward situation to be in, I've been there as well when ordering parts for my RZR on the computer.

I hope she like the new look at least.

I won't use discount tire anymore. My dodge p/u needed alinement, the left front was wearing on the outside. Has a full size spare but mounted on a steel wheel. Asked them to mount the spare tire on the aluminum wheel and put the front tire on the spare wheel. Guy comes out and checks the mileage on the truck, looks at the tires and says let's go back inside and write it up.

There is a large line as they just opened, he proceeds to tell me the cost of a new tire as he can't mount the tire back on the spare wheel due to the wear on it. The outside is right at the wear bar. I tell him it's a spare go ahead and mount and they refuse. I then ask why he didn't tell me that in the parking lot instead of wasting my time and all the others in line behind me. Should have been the first thing he told me when looking at the tire, he didn't have an answer, just looked at me with a blank look on his face. Took it to a local shop nearby my house, done in 20 minutes, mounted and balanced for $40.

A handful of people mentioned that I may be over inflated. The side of the tire says max 80psi cold. According to my dash display, all 4 tires are at 36psi..
You should check YouTube on how to do a chalk test. Larger tires can "crown" and thus the edges of the tires do not contact the road surface at standard pressures.
