Locking gas cap tether replacement?

Any ideas on where to find a replacement tether without buying a new $100 gas cap? Mopar doesn't list that part separately. It will easily come off the cap.

I just grabbed a few different replacement tethers off amazon and used heat shrink to graft one onto the original tether. Has held up pretty well, but I haven't been rough with it.

You might just have to get a whole new after market locking gas cap.

Thanks for the offer but I do have a stock cap. Problem is the stock caps have a different tether that snaps into the center of the cap. So they are not interchangeable.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking in regards to the heat shrink tubing fix. Thanks for the pics.

Was really hoping to just buy a replacement tether and be done with it.

The thing that would concern me about drilling a hole in the cap would be as you spin the cap on and off, without the pivot point located somewhat closer to center, I would think the tether would have a tendency to bunch up.

I'm probably going to grab the tether off my old cap and go the tubing route and worry about it later if that fails.
