I had a weird situation occur, hoping someone on here can give advice.

I have a 2022 Gladiator Mojave, that I've had 35's and aftermarket wheels on.
This weekend I took the OEM Mojave wheels/tires (roughly a 33") and mounted them on my partner's 2022 Wrangler Sport S (manual trans, 2 door fwiw).

Did a quick drive to check for rub after putting the fronts on, just around the neighborhood.
That was all good so finished installing the rears - checked for rub, all good.

Hand the Jeep back to my gf with all 4 33's mounted up who gets out of the neighborhood and calls me saying her Jeep won't go above 2k rpm. She brings it home, I hop in and confirm that it's in limp mode; capped at 2k rpm like it's hitting a rev limiter. No check engine lights, no TPMS lights.

I threw the OEM sport s rims back on and we take it out for a drive - perfectly fine.

What gives? I know we're not the only people in history to put 33's on a Wrangler Sport S. Is there some trick I missed when bolting these up?

Also for what it's worth; those Gladiator 33's fit great with no lift. Pic of that:

Did you use a programmer like a Tazer or JSCAN to change the tire size? It's not required, but highly recommended so that the vehicle can re-learn the proper shift points with the larger tires.

And running smaller rears vs. fronts, even for a short amount of time shouldn't be done.

you said you only changed the front two tires? sounds like to freaked out the computer when you did you first test drive. all four wheel sensors needs to rotate at the same rate. I'd assume that's what caused the 2K limiter deal. it was trying to keep the axles from having an issue. Just my Opinion

No, but it's a manual transmission so it shouldn't have to learn any shift points.

Changed the 2 fronts; took it out of the driveway, drove in a quick circle, pulled it back in then mounted up the rears. When it was going on the real road and freaking out it had 4 matching tires.

the manual still needs the corrected tire size as well. I got the whole xmas tree lighting without doing updating the size with my tazer.

Likely just because you took it out with mismatched front and rear tires. Change all 4 and go for another test drive and I’m sure it will be fine.
It only freaked out when all 4 of the 33's are on.

For folks that are saying I need a Tazer to do this - I didn't do that when I bumped up to 35's on my Gladiator. I doubt Costco had anything special.

Is there some trick, like disconnect the battery or something?

Sometimes it takes the vehicle an extra ignition cycle for the check engine/codes to appear. I guarantee you that it was because of the mismatched tires.

It’s not because you didn’t use a tazer. I regularly swap between 33’s, 35’s and 37’s on mine (sometimes all in the same week) and it doesn’t set anything off.

Alright that makes sense. Next weekend I'll give it another shot, all 4 at once ;)

I bumped up to 33's on my Sahara and didn't have any issues, also have not used a Tazer to adjust anything. Been driving like it since last summer with no issues. Disconnecting the battery for a bit isn't going to harm anything so it's worth a shot. Will it correct everything? Not sure. Could also be that the sensors haven't registered yet that you have all 4 on now.

This actually isn't true - but don't think it's your case here. With the manual transmission, when you swap tire size the MT needs to go through a re-learn process as part of recalibrating everything. Until it does you'll get random ESS errors. I agree with all who said it's due to the interim running 2 different sizes at once. Try re-mounting all 4 at once and just for good measure, disconnect the battery (both batteries) for a minute or so, and allow the computer to re-set. I'll bet your fine after that.
