Yeah it doesn’t sound like it will work but amazingly it does do the trick. That style you just roll the open top tightly down and then snap the two ends together with the lock. I will see if I can find a short video demonstrating how.

It's the way pretty much every drybag seals. I see them all the time on rafting trips.

we use these on our boat, have about 10 different sizes for various purposes. They are cheap on Amazon and No Zippers! Zippers are a when not if wear item.
Just got a few for the Jeep, abrasion resistance is unknown as the boat is a very soft environment with no sharp edges.
