I just purchased my first Jeep Wrangler Sport S (JLU) a month ago so pardon me if this is an elementary level post. There are so many recommendations for LED headlight bulbs and I'm looking for recommendations. I really don't want to spend $800 for the full conversion so, I'd rather try the bulbs first. Hopefully, I don't see too many posts saying "I told you so". Those of you that are happy happy with their bulb conversion, I would appreciated your recommendation.

There are a lot of positive comments here about @AUXITO products. They're priced reasonably too.

Took me about 40 minutes to install. 15 minutes for the grill removal the rest was very easy.

Keep in mind that the reflectors inside Halogen bulb housings aren't designed for LED bulbs, so they don't use the light from LEDs efficiently, and can even scatter light to the point of blinding oncoming drivers. Some LED bulbs are better than others, but none are great.

My experience with LED bulbs went like this:
  • Halogen bulb blew out in my Pilot. Replaced them with Sylvania something-Stars. They used Xenon gas I believe. They were EXCELLENT, but only lasted about a year before they blew. I tried different levels (Best, Second Best, etc) and different brands before I decided to try LED. Tried two different sets, including an AUXITO, and while the light was brighter in certain spots, there were dark spots here and there, and they didn't get as far down the road. I went back to the Sylvania's. I had to replace them annually, but they were better than the LED's I tried.
  • I experimented in my wife's two vehicles as above, so this experience wasn't related to just an 08 Pilot's housings...
  • Bought a new motorcycle with halogens. They had NO throw down the road and didn't light up the road very well. At the time, I was riding into work at 0230 on a dark highway. This had to change. Took it back to the dealer to see if they were aimed correctly. They were. A few weeks later, I rode next to a co-worker whose bike came with the OEM LEDs- what a difference. I spent a ton of money to upgrade mine to those, and have never regretted it. "Buy once, cry once" as they say.
  • Before ordering my Jeep, I saw all the complaints about the OEM Halogens, so I opted for the OEM LEDs. IMHO, they are one of the best non-active road lights I've ever had on a vehicle. In some ways, they're even better than the Oracle Oculus that I have now. (Another story.)
Point is, properly aimed LED housings absolutely blow away LED bulbs in Halogen housings. Do what you want to do, but if you can, scrape up the $$ for a quality set of LED-based housings. You may have to have your Jeep flashed to use them, but there's lots of threads about how to accomplish that. (Dealer, Tazer, etc)

Here's a video that I used to select my bulbs. I was skeptical of beam control on conversion bulbs. I seen many people with cheap LED bulbs in their vehicles that glared badly. This video convinced me that at least these bulbs controlled the beams well. My choice was the SV.4

Great video! I also like the SV.4.

Congrats on the new JLU 👏! You’re going to see two camps in here:
  1. “Just swap bulbs, it’s fine.”
  2. “Do a full housing or don’t bother.”
If you’re running factory halogen reflectors and want a budget-friendly, plug-and-play improvement, a quality LED bulb upgrade is absolutely a noticeable step up from stock. It’s quick, reversible, and doesn’t require a full headlight swap. We offer direct plug-and-play LED headlight bulbs here: https://www.oraclelights.com/collections/oracle-led-headlight-bulbs

They’re designed to maintain proper beam pattern in halogen housings (when installed correctly) and don’t require extra modules or weird wiring. If down the road you decide you want maximum output and a true projector-based LED system, that’s where a full housing like our Oculus Bi-LED headlights comes into play. That’s more of a long-term “do it once, do it right” solution.

Forum members can use code WRANGLER10 to save a bit, too!

Or keep the halogen headlights (good for snow due to heat, or being seen coming in deep fog, due to color) and then add LED driving lights. I have small spot/wide combos on the bumper relayed off the high beams. Better than our car with HIDs. Some vendor here was offering some plug-in harnesses to patch into the high beams.

Interesting. I've also seen non-flickering harness, 60 bucks.
