Hey guys,

I’ve noticed a bit of oil/grease on my Bilstein 5160 reservoir shocks from a mopar lift kit after some off-road rides (washboard roads and rocky forest roads). Both sides look the same — just a light film or a small streak of oil near the bottom.

Is that normal for these shocks, or does it mean they’re leaking? They’ve got around 2000 km on them.

Its not water nor condensation, its oily on my fingers and there was not any water on both rides where I noticed it.

Thanks for any advice or similar experiences!

Probably normal. Clean them very good and keep an eye on them.

Oil seepage on the polish rod is not “normal“.

The finite amount of oil in the shock cavity will eventually leak out and where oil leaks out, dirt leaks in and accelerates the deterioration.

Take them back to where you bought them and ask for a new set.

Make sure they are not getting side loaded thus creating side compression of the seals resulting in leakage.
