Leak

Saw some fluid leaking on driveway and it seemed oily and went to the dealer to drop off. They wouldnt take it because they thought it was AC condensation and so I went home and ran just the fan to dry it all out. Saw more dripping and finally went under and saw below, looks like its coming out of transmission pan.

Am I the dumb on here still or was i right.

Trans is normally red.

I assume it's humid enough to condensate, if it is, you can run the AC on full blast for a few minutes in the driveway and the water should stream from there if it is.

I wiped it with a towell and it smells like oil. its prety dry here but ill try your trick to see where the AC actually pours

Not sure on the JL, but most vehicles with cabin air intake through the cowl have drains for the cowl for when it rains. You can also try pouring some water in the cowl and see where it comes out.

Probably transmission fluid, it's a clear/greenish color in the ZF 8 speed.

Well, ends up you're not the only one, I was under the Jeep the other day and saw some oily fluid in the same spot, same light green/yellow and lightly oily.

Before I take it in, was wondering what they did to yours. I'll take it in for a gasket, but I'd rather just torque down the trans pan myself if that's all it took.

Dealer replaced the gasket.
