I have a "trail" set and a daily driver set.

Is there a convenient way to mark each wheel so when I reinstall I can properly rotate? I'm thinking grease marker, etc. on inside sidewall. Other ideas?

Chalk will also work, especially since my 10 year old daughter has a boat load of it laying around!

Blue painters tape is a good marker too!

Silver sharpie or a paint pen on the backside of the tire.

I use a small electric engraver to add "RF", "LR" and so on to the inside of the wheels when they're first removed from the vehicle.

Example.

I have tags labeled DF, DR, PF, PR. Spare is obvious as it has no center plug.
Each tag has a length of thin wire on it just long enough to use as a twist tie through a lug.

When I put tires away I attach the appropriate tag to designate where it came from. The tags are well protected when attached on the inside of the wheel and no problems with labels falling off or leaving residue behind.

Thanks for great ideas.
I went with paint marker pen. I wrote 1-5 on inside sidewall, in the "C" of Cooper on each.

I'll keep a notebook/log og tire position and miles. Hopefully it sticks

I just measure tread depth before putting them back on. Most depth goes to RR.
