Knocking sound while coasting???

I picked up my first jeep ('23 4 door Sport, 2.0T) 2 weeks ago and at ~870 miles I started hearing a knocking sound from under the vehicle. The frequency of the knocking changes with speed and is only present while coasting (under throttle it goes away). I am thinking it is something related to the rear axle/differential (has the limited slip differential). The noise is more noticeable after driving on the highway, and doesn't change related to 2wd vs. 4hi. Just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this to be better prepaired when I bring it in to the dealer, just in case they try to tell me it's "normal". In the video I am initially coasting and you can hear the knocking go away when I accelerate. Thanks!

That is wierd, sounds almost like something with the wheels or that area. Yeah or as you said axles while not under power.

Thanks Scott, my first thought was wheels as well, so I tightened all of the lug nuts to the 130 ft-lb recommended in the owner's manual, but no change.

I feel like there was another person with a sound like that and it ended up being drive shaft to transfer case…

edit: I reread that thread and it was his driveshaft.

I had my Jeep into the dealer today and their diagnosis was a faulty differential. They will order a new one on Monday. Hopefully it will not take too long to arrive.

Three business days later and the new differential and other parts (shims? bearings?) have arrived at the dealership. Install scheduled in two weeks when the technician has a 5 hour opening.
